Does anyone else like to keep the 2 to 5 pound freshwater bass and fry them? It's good just dipped in ketchup.

Throw it back to get bigger if it's a private pond/lake.

I really prefer to eat 'em between 1 and 3 lbs, but if forced to,I'd eat a few 5 pounders.

Anything over 4lbs should be released for two reasons. 1. Thicker bass filets aren't as good, 2. Let the fish get bigger/spawn.

For my batter, I take a pack of Louisiana seasoned fish fry and add about the same amount of corn meal. Add Tony's (Corn meal added to make it a little more crispy than just LA Fish Fry)

For wash, I do mostly milk, a little egg and worcheshire sauce.

A bit of Heaven, even if it is in Tx. If you've been disregard, but if you haven't: Be Careful... Use a map, stay in running lanes, etc... I've had to take off my trolling motor at night and wedge it between trailer forks and straighten,, a few times.. I like the red shad, tx. style there..

If I mounted every 6# bass I've caught, I'd have to buy another house to put them in. Any bass over 3#

Great place to fish. I caught one over 8 last year (biggest fish to date), but had to release him because he was in the slot.

I usually keep bass when I fish Gibson. Usually they are 1-2.5lbs. Fried fresh bass is very good.
