Patriots Will Host Al Woods
I was really surprised after reading this article. It really makes me wonder how come we couldn't get any real production out of this guy. I hope he goes on to represent us well!

New England could pair the 6-foot-4, 309-pound Woods with Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren to give the Patriots a dominant defensive front. Woods possesses the versatility to play either the 5-technique or the nose tackle spot in New England's system...ran an unofficial 5.12 second 40-yard dash and showed a vertical leap of 37 inches, nearly two inches higher than the average wide receiver in the last three years....could be a second-round steal

Patriots are known to mold players into what they need/want. Maybe they see something they like, raw athleticism

Woods never fit into our system, as we had no need for a nose tackle.

Hmmm... Seems our staff lets a lot of talent go through because they don't fit in to the system. Don't know if your comment was sarcasm or not but holds some merit.

It just seems like a guy that big and athletic would be able to fit into our "system."

Yaah because neither Bo Pelini or John Chavis know anything about coaching Defense.

When at least one of our DEs are making a negative play (loss of containment, taken out of a play easily by one blocker, ect) every play, our DTs become exposed and easy to take care of. Woods had an OK year for what was around him. Our young DEs were just not ready to play at all and Alem couldn't get his act together.

You make an excellent point Tigercat.

The Patriots made a living drafting LSU players and won 3 SBs, but some idiot Saints' fans don't think the Tigers are good enough to consider.

well we haven't had a D line coach since Pete Jenkins left
Posted on 3/13/10 at 6:19 pm to TigerJeff
tell that to Devery Henderson and Randall Blue Gay

We all know he has talent. It will be fun to watch him in a different scheme.

yes, randall gay, kevin faulk, marquise hill, and jarvis green were definetly the cornestones of the SB Patriots teams.

the main problem with him was just that he was very unproductive as a player. Some guys are combine stars and others are just good football players. He just didn't seem to be a natural for the game of football. Maybe he can hit the weights hard, bulk up, and try out for 'the worlds strongest man' competition or be a pro wrestler or something.

not sure he ever had the vision or reactionary instincts. There were several times this year where he got through the line but whiffed on a simple side-step by the QB.

Might be a few Tigers that have better NFL careers from this team. Keiland on the right team could be a guy that gets decent carries in the NFL.
