Yes...he really does. And he has alot of facts and numbers and quotes from coaches and all of that stuff to support him. In fact...ALL of the college baseball coaches agree with him. So you are the fool and an idiot...

I actually enjoy seeing how they are willing to test ideas and to see players who will "step up later".
So do I.

"Matters", meaning what exactly??
that it will make or break our Omaha chances??? no
does it matter to develop some type of team chemistry? Does it help to see who is ready to play for the SEC schedule? Does it matter to see who else is going to be your weekend starters?
of course it matters in a sense.
if you have question marks on your team, and you are looking for guys to step up, do you want to see if they match up with William and Mary type athletes, or a better team similar to what we'll see in the SEC?
There's so much parity in college baseball. It's always good to be tested before it matters. You see how each player reacts. You can do that against borderline NAIA teams.

Please....just stop. Now you want to talk chemistry? They're still testing the reagents.

i have about as much as you.
one thing separates us though. You are clueless, and I am not.

Holy crap you are reaching.
Ok...Ill let you be able to go to bed tonight, cause with your 100k+ posts I can deduce you cannot stand to lose an argument.
Yes. LSU must definately play a CSF or Rice or FSU or UT to be able to have the best chance at winning an SEC title and thus be prepared for the rigors of postseason. I sure hope they schedule tougher OOC opponents so PM can have his kids better prepared.
I was not thinking enough and was really just too emotional...please forgive me...
Nite nite..

When all else fails, use some sarcasm to admit defeat. I like it.
we've went from mock trial to now chemistry jokes, I tell you what, you 2 guys really must know some baseball.
bunch of children.

Sorry..I cant help it...but since you think its sarcasm..you must agree with my following statement...

If you say yes..then I will just say that we have to agree to disagree and I will not disparage you. I just feel that in college baseball you arent that reliant on preseason series. I really didnt want to get into a pissing match. I can see your point about wanting the best competition. does it help a college baseball team? I guess Ill have to admit it could. But I just havent seen statistical data. I know I would love better OOC series for LSU. Can we just agree on that and leave it at that?

This is all that matters. Your "team chemistry" rant is the biggest stretch of an argument I've seen on this board in a while.

I think I have to agree with Lester on this one.
What exactly is the downside to scheduling some tougher opponents early in the year?
If you lose to tougher competition: Assuming you have athletes who are dedicated and won't falter with a series loss, then there is no downside. Even with a loss, you find who can pull through in pressure/clutch situations. You can adjust your pitching rotation or closers based on the situation. It basically prepares the team for conference tourney/regionals/Omaha type situations.
If you win: You gain more confidence and you still get the benefits mentioned above.
I'm not saying all teams need to schedule nothing but top 25 OCC opponents, but you can certainly sprinkle a few here and there.

#2 is my guess - LSU is still undefeated despite not having played an away game or top tier team yet. Don't get me wrong, I respect the hell out of their program, but their scheduling thus far is not impressive.
quote:
Agreed. Their OOC is "Less Than Stellar".
I'm just going to say this about LSU's schedule: the worst team we've beaten is better than the best team UVA lost to.

I ranted on team chemistry? I think i mentioned it in 1 sentence.
anyway, facing adversity helps develop team chemistry and builds confidence.
struggling to win a tight game....coming back from a deficit...etc...
I hardly ranted on it...It's only one of the few things that could be gained by playing a better team.

The SEC prepares us for the postseason, not games that are played right now. Besides, our out of conference schedule has always been shite and nobody has been better than us in the postseason in the past 20 years.

That isnt the argument. You need to read the thread again. Im not arguing against scheduling tougher OOC series. Im arguing that LSU does not have to schedule...lets say...one tougher OOC (top 20) series to better themselves for SEC play. And there is ZERO statistical data or coach's quotes to argue otherwise. Its just the opinion of arrogant posters who are ignorant...in other words...Lester Earl.

Ad Hominem = Lester Earl
You would think that after all of these good baseball coaches at LSU that you would have learned something. (After 35 years of watching LSU baseball I have.)
Almost every Championship season the formula is the same despite the competition. Baseball has a playoff, football doesn't.
March - A little rough as we find/test most of the starters.
April - Some setbacks as we find the role players and the all important Lester Earl "chemistry."
May -We hit the groove and drive to Omaha.
June - We prove that we are the best.
This is why I love LSU baseball - it never matters how we start but how we end.

is every single person on that board too dumb to realize the north comment had zero to do with Virginia?

Someone corrected the others. I don't know how that got misinterpreted. I was obviously talking about games played in the south by teams from the north during cold months.
