you're talking to someone who is referencing LSU's SEC record 10 years ago like it has some bearing on this year
FSU is stacked. They are legit

yeah but that 2003 team only made it to Omaha and didnt win it so even though the current FSU kids were 11 at the time we should punish them in the rankings.

Hey...Im all for it!!
But there's just ZERO evidence that it will make LSU better in SEC play...ZERO. Its just your opinion. You cant come up with any statistics that show that baseball teams that play tougher OOC teams have better conference records. And you most definately cant find those numbers historically with LSU.
Again...I agree with you in that I believe LSU should play maybe ONE OOC top 20 team...like a RICE or CSF or hell...why not a FSU or UT. But I will never believe that playing one of those series will make LSU better in SEC play. It's just silly.

UVA's schedule is crap:
Losses to East Caronlina and Wright State. Give me a break.
They are not the #1 team in the nation, but it's way too early for anyone to boast that yet.

the way you hear people talk you would think they played the yankees 11 times. i mean ecu is a respectable club but cmon they arent top tier.

It's common knowledge that playing a better opponent makes you better.
I dont need any statistics to back that up.
Especially when u are preparing to play in the toughest conference in the nation.

and u most definitely cannot find evidence that it doesnt help playing better competition.
But anyone that knows sports knows that playing tougher competition is better for your team.

Silly, huh? I dont know what to tell you. You are an obvious novice when it comes to following sports and competitions.

just so you know, you are no more knowledgeable about college baseball than anybody else in this thread.. so just stop with your stupid arse comments..
also, pretending that FSU isnt a legit baseball school, who is also stacked this year, just because they have not won a national title makes you seem like the uneducated one.. everyone is aware of their Omaha struggles.. only a pretty ignorant person would think that traits like that are passed along to new players..

may not be true, but usually people who act like he is are the type of fans that discovered college baseball 2 years ago during LSUs run.. again, it might not be the case with him.. he may be someone who watched all the national champion teams in the 90s, then came back to the bandwagon a couple of years ago..

Again...in the world of debate...it is not up to me to disprove a "negative". It's up to you to prove that playing...what..ONE, TWO..how many? "so-called" tougher OOC series will make LSU a better SEC baseball team. You are the one who has to somehow give me some numbers...not the other way around. Ill be glad to admit...if over the 70+ years of SEC baseball, that playing tough OOC teams helps improve ones SEC record, that im wrong.
Now is it desirable as a fan to play better competition? Most assuredly. But there is ZERO evidence that it improves in-conference records.

it certainly wouldnt surprise me.

Im not pretending that FSU isnt a legit baseball school...im just not ready to jump on their bandwagon because they are putting up crazy early season numbers. Ive seen this act ALOT...and they need to prove me wrong. If they are impressive against UVA in a few weeks..then Ill say i was way off base..and that FSU is the SHIttt!

having them ranked #1 3 weeks into the season isnt jumping on their bandwagon. it just means they've been the best team so far through 3 weeks. it in no way means people think they're going to win it all.
two completely different things.

this isnt fricking mock trial man, we are talking baseball. Sports.
I dont have to prove anything to you. Ask any coach or anyone who follows sports, especially one like baseball where you play a large amount of games, what they think of the matter and they will ALL agree with me.
if LSU wanted to take BP for a whole weekend, they should just go out and let Beerbolm throw them BP because that's basically what it is playing William and Mary and Brown.
this isnt something you see in stats.
You see it when its crunch time, and Austin Nola or Tyler Hanover is at the plate late in the game against a good pitcher in a tight situation, and he's going to wish he had faced better live pitching when it essentially "didnt matter". Not the little 5'9" twirp that picked between Centenary and Loyola NOLA and can barely touch 80 MPH.

I really think their ranking is based on the fact they return everyone from a CWS team...
he specifically said it was because they have more impressive wins than lsu to this point. only problem is they also have a bad loss which lsu doesnt and if you're going by most impressive victories to this point both ucla and fsu are miles ahead of uva and neither of those team has a loss.
so basically he contradicts himself.

Ya..cause we dont want to confuse baseball and sports with actually history and stats...

Well..let me go talk to some coaches...cause If i can just find ONE that doesnt agree with you...which i know will be oh so tough..then I guess you suck...

If you're going by most impressive victories in OOC play this year..then ya...UVA doesnt have that. And he does contradict himself if that is solely what he is basing his ranking on. However, I would still rank UVA ahead of both those teams, and we will only know in June whether im right or not. In other words Im giving a team returning everyone from a year they made it to the CWS a little bit of a benefit of the doubt..that's all.

Whoa,
I don't comment very much but please remember that its March. Lamabe, Bertman, and Mainieri all have used March to test their teams - its a hallark of semi-competant coaching - Smoke excluded. I actually enjoy seeing how they are willing to test ideas and to see players who will "step up later". Please, this ain't football. Do you really believe after all of these years of national championship baseball that out of conference schedule matters in MARCH?
