Sandwich (NOT A BURGER) beats out soup and burgers in a landslide.

Again, this is not a contest and anything goes. There is no judging who is the best or worst. It's simply a way to share and learn new flavors, techniques, or ideas with various ingredients. Anyone can participate at any time. The only requirements are:

1. Post your EXACT recipe - it can be an original, a modification, or from your favorite cookbook. I don't care.
2. If possible post a pic of your dish/meal. Also, put a little slip of paper or card with your screen name in your pic.
3. Note your opinion of the dish, and any changes you would recommend. Be candid, and honest. Not everything we make is great, who cares.

you have until 3/29/10 to post your pics, recipe, and results.

good luck, have fun, and...

Allez Cuisine!!

Thanks for putting this together el tigre. I look forward to having my arse handed to me in this non-contest contest.

I was half in the bag Sunday around noon and made a sandwich out of left over grilled chicken, bruschetta, extra Israeli feta, and some French country bread. That's my entry, recipes/pics not available-TAKE THAT CHAIRMAN.

then do your po-boy, that's fair.

i just won't ever have a po-boy challenge that requires everyone to make one b/c of the bread nazis.

eta: but no burgers...that is worthy of it's own separate challenge.

El Tigre,

Is it ok if we use meat from a different recipe to make our sandwich if we include the meat recipe? For example I always make sandwiches from leftover pork or turkey or eye round roast dinners. Would that be out of the rules if I include the recipe for the "dinner" as well as for the sandwich?

100% acceptable.

The only requirement is that this a sandwich of the non-burger variety. Within that parameter anything goes as long as you make it or at least put it together yourself.

Thanks! I'm excited about this, great idea. My camera is on the fritz right now but I'll see if I can get some pics!

OK...I don't know how to put notes and pictures so I had to do it on my website.

This is my recipe for "Pizza Sandwiches." My ex-girlfriend from High School taught me this and it is wonderful...especially if you have children.

I prefer "pepperoni" only.

Recipes: Pizza Sandwiches (and Crawfish Etoufee')

For a quick good treat...this is GREAT!

I love this, there is NO WAY to lose a "no contest" contest. We've got a Pork Cook-Off tomorrow and will take a pic of our entry, which just so happens to be a "sammich"! If we win, we'll even take a pic with our trophy or whatever they decide to give us.

threw this together, and decided to take pics.

had an attempt with a 'chicken yassa' this weekend. marinated chicken in lemon, onion, garlic, chile pepper. brown the chicken, browned the onions, covered with the marinade and simmered.

today shredded some, put it on some french country-type bread, with a lemony mayo (with a touch of hot sauce), and spread some sauce/onions over it cold.

voila

fullsize

it's good. probably should have just mixed the chicken with the mayo to bind it. some pickled peppers would probably be nice here too.
