Interesting article from ESPN, 11 mil a year is by no means chump change, these 3 together would make for a championship contender right away and for a long time coming.

They arent that stupid.

First off, their titles wouldnt be that impressive, and their legacies tarnished for cheesing their way to a dynasty.

2nd off, its all about $.

3rd off, after the Mavs get Iguodala next year it wont fricking matter who winds up where paired with who.

lbj/bosh/lee would be better

bosh
lee
dano
lbj
any spotup 3 point guy

wilson chandler off the bench

then fill up the rest of the bench over the next 2 years with exceptions, before they're eliminated

a few weeks ago JA Adande said on ESPN that he talked to a member of LBJ's inner circle when they were in LA and Adande asked him what was the biggest factor to LBJ. The dude said "championships" and that was it.

Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and KG feel pretty about their ring.

right which is why the smart money says this scenario is probably more realistic than anyone realizes.

quote:

But if James, Wade and Bosh truly want to make history, they could do the unthinkable and split the Knicks' $33 million three ways. It would cost them salary money, but can you imagine how much they'd make on the back end if they started reeling in NBA titles? In New York?

Whatever they'd lose on their paycheck stubs, they'd make up in endorsements. And it's not as if they're filing simple federal tax returns these days. According to a 2009 Forbes analysis, LeBron earned about $42.4 million in salary and endorsements -- more than Britney Spears, Jay-Z or Tom Cruise and almost as much as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie combined.

Wade was No. 12 on Sports Illustrated's 2009 Fortunate 50, earning $26.4 million in salary and endorsements. Bosh didn't make the top 50, but he is making $15.7 million from the Raptors this season.

Anyway, they all can afford to do something daring. Just think: James, Wade and Bosh at Madison Square Garden.

Seriously, who would touch them? Wade at guard. LeBron at point forward. Bosh in the post or on the wing. Three good guys who could handle the New York media. Three seven-year veterans who understand you get only so many chances to hug the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Three singular players who know careers are defined by championships, not just checkbooks.

Dream Team Jr. could get by on about $11 million each, couldn't it? Yeah, they'd take a cut in pay, but they'd get a raise in title runs.

keep in mind Ghazi that the only sure thing is next season. So they could go to NYC win a ring in 2010/2011 in the Finals against Kobe's Lakers (LA vs NYC - going into a lockout what better way to make a statement for the players side than that$$$$$$$$?), the NBA gets locked out and Bosh/LBJ/Wade could still make a ton of money in NYC even with the League shut down. They wont get that opportunity anywhere else.

I love Lebron and really like both Wade and Bosh. But if they all went to the Knicks it would be gay as the frick, and I would think their titles tainted.

would be freaking sick, IMO

although I do think it would be difficult for Wade and James to co-exist on the floor night after night

guess you'll just have to bring Wade in off the bench

i found that article very interesting. i loved when it talked about being a legend for taking the minimal salary. yeah, part of me thinks that their legacies would be tainted cause it would be so unfair...but then again it would be pretty sweet for them to be able to play on arguably the greatest team of all time

They won't turn down millions of dollars to do it. There will be too many suitors offering a lot of money. No chance. End of story.

Is Bill Russell or Magic or Bird's titles tarnished since they played with multiple HOFers???

In a world where guys don't care about winning and only care about money, I think these guys would look really great by doing this.

Of course we all know it's NEVER happening, but just sayin lol.

I think their legacies would improve because they turned down millions just to win. With all the spoiled brats in the NBA, I would love to see them take paycuts to kick some arse.

I'm not saying you're wrong, cause who knows.

But I really don't get this line of thinking and how this would be gay. Nowadays, everyone claims how guys don't care if they win or lose and are there just to pick up a paycheck. If they do this, they are proving without a doubt that money isn't there main interest, and they are really out to win titles.

I think that would be refreshing to see athletes do that.

And as for as titles being tainted, was Magic's title with Kareem and Worthy tainted?

Was Bird's titles with DJ, Parish, and McHale tainted?

If Bron's anywhere besides Cleveland next season it tarnishes his legacy(for me). He is the team(the Cleveland Lebrons) and they've done everything they could to keep him there. If he just gets one ring there he's beyond legendary and he carries a city on his back forever. If he goes to NYC I just see him as a mercenary as will a lot of people. I know 30 years from now he'll be in the books with his ring and still arguably one of the greatest players of all time, but I'll never see him as a Jordan that started for/with a shitty franchise and made it a world market team for a time and never sought out domination via dream teams.

Bron winning a ring in Cleveland > than a ring in NYC.

I disagree. Bron has done everything humanly possible to bring a ring to Cleveland. You said it right when you said he is the team. He has zero help on that team. He's making absolute scrubs look like formidable teammates but they're not.

NYC has more resources. They can bring in better players. If he doesn't win it this year at Cleveland, he's given that city enough IMO.

they've came a long way talent wise over the past 3 years. I won't argue he has the best supporting cast, but I honestly think Danny Ferry has done everything in his power to keep some(very little) star power around Lebron, without going completely broke for the next season.

He's got enough now to make it happen. It should happen.
