Sorry, but I keep thinking of other foods I love.

We have the best vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to here in Nashville; Kien Ghiang. (Good Times and Dagarun..let me know if you want to meet there for lunch sometime)

I always start with the spring "condom soft" spring rolls loaded with all kinds of stuff including shrimp and a duck/peanut sauce to dip them in. Absolutely delicious.

Then they have a 'bowl' that contains shredded pork, sliced egg rolls, a whole medley of veggies, and then some clear noodles on the bottom. They serve this with a cup of some type of sweet fish oil which I immediately douse the food with. I follow that up with a generous helping of "big red" ..thats what we call that red sauce with the chicken on the side of it..forget the real name.

As if that isn't enough to burst couple of buttons off my shirt, they have real cafe du monde coffee that they serve with a little perculator and about a half cup of sweetened condensed milk. You pour that puppy over ice and its an insanely good way to finish off the meal..not to mention the chikory and caffeine buzz you'll have when done.

Anyway..I couldn't tell you what that bowl is called to save my life..too many veitnamese characters in the name.

Ok I'm done for the night. I'll stop spamming the food board with new threads.

eta here it is. that picture is epic and i dont think they have a website..they sometimes leave in the summer to go back to vietnam and the place stays closed for months

eta2 - just saw this review

The last two times I've been to Kien Giang there was a young boy - obviously the son of one of the owners or staff - who was riding his tricycle around in the restaurant. It really is a huge distraction. I'm not planning on going back.

dude..dont go back then. part of the charm of this place is the cheezy karaoke bar in the corner and fights that routinely break out among the teenage vietnamese gangsters.

I think you described Bun Thit Nuong. The sauce is Nuoc Mam Cham...I think. I've heard it described as Vietnamese ketchup.I love this dish as much or more than a beef pho with the works...meatball,rare beef, etc.
