Was going to buy a PS3 today so I could play

The Show and God of War 3 but no new or refurb units in stock anywhere.
They said Sony actually stopped making them for a while to let supply and demand balance out due to having too many on hand at the end of the year.
What kind of bullshite is that?
I may go reserve one but it will not be here for 3 to 4 weeks.
ETA I am only doing this because they are giving me $150 credit for my PSP and about 6 games. I never use it anyway.

makes sense. they sell PS3s at a loss FWIW.
i read they cost about $850 to make (could be bullshite, but i know they cost more than the price)

been contemplating all day whether to take the ps3 apart and try to repair it or go out and buy a new one. luckily bestbuy was sold out of the $299 consoles or i would have cracked last night

like I said, I am only doing it because I never play my PSP and I can get $150 for it with some promotion they have. Plus I have about 9 Xbox games I would get rid of and they give me $70 EXTRA for those so I basically can get one for free right now from Gamestop. Just sucks having to wait a month for one.
My nephew has an Xbox and PS3 and I originally got the Xbox because that's what he plays mostly but now I am wanting to play a few PS3 exculsive with him.

I really just want to play The Show, MAG (to see what it's all about), God of War 3, and maybe play with Da Clan on MW2.

that was when they were first released. I heard they almost break even on the slim's.
and fwiw, getting a new slim and $150 trade in on it is a really good deal.

I eventually want to buy a ps3 slim refurb and a wii to compliment my 360 but there is no way I can find the coin to buy the systems and games. Post the deals as they come please.
