Charles Scott, Saints 6th Round Draft Pick

Since every other LSU potential prospect has been projected to the Saints
He's showing up on most boards as about the #150 ranked player, 10-12 out of RBs. He is a short yardage pounder. I wouldn't mind him 5th-7th Rd, especially if Bell leaves.

what round pick are we missing for Morstead?

I believe it was a 7th? Bell is gone, SP really does not like Bell's attentoion to detail. During the SB replay, he asked Bell what kind of cleats he had on and Bell showed him and SP went off.

Thanks blues... I would hate to waste a 7th...its our unknown pick to dominant NFL player round.

---and the undrafted pool!
After the opportunities Payton has given to the undrafted, how well they have done, and with a Lombardi we have prolly will have every undrafted player waiting to see if we give them a shot before signing elsewhere.
PS- I liked the Marlon Favorite signing LSU or not.

Scott totally ruined his draft stock by coming back for another season

i disagree. if he would have came out last year (and the same goes for ciron black) he would have been a much higher pick than he will be this year.
i don't know if it was him or lsu's poor o-line play, or a combination of both, but he was the not the dominant, punishing back he was last year

Black, wow, bigger drop than Corey Webster had staying another year. Last year could have edged into the 1st Rd maybe. Now I'm seeing him ranked past #100 overall

They had him drop like 25 lbs and went with a one back set. Scott needs a fb and momentum. He is a downhill runner....lsu was stupid how they used him this year

why?
his physical limitations existed last year, this year, and every other year
his lack of top physical talent is why he's not a top-level pick

once you show the ability, that's all you need to do. he showed it in 2008, and our OL sucked
that has no effect on his draft stock

i never expected him to be a first round pick, but with the numbers his junior year (the guy had almost 1200 yards rushing and 18 td's) he could have been a first day pick with a good combine.
now his senior year (542 yds and 4 td's) was a huge letdown and i wonder if the scouts will be scared off by the steep drop off in production. guess it depends on what kind of combine he has.

you need to show the ability consistantly. i know our o-line sucked last year, but he still looked slow and sluggish hitting the few holes he had. he couldn't break tackles and he went down pretty easily. i wish the guy luck and all, but i'm pretty sure he is regretting his choice to come back

this is similar to michael bush and brian brohm.
both were considered first round players and both fell due to coming back.
bush suffered a season ending injury in the first game of the season and brohm had a dissapointing year. i just happens. that's why you take the money and run when you have the chance

In all seriousness, he'd be an excellent pickup.
His style mimicks that of L Hamilton, so he'd fit that role of the short-ydg bruiser plus he'd be a great backup FB and fill the role that D. Thomas filled this yr.
Since i expect Mike Bell to be gone, there may be a role for someone of Chuck the Truck's skills...though he won't last till the 6th round or anything.

If Bell is gone then sure get Scott but let's be honest there is going to be 5, 6 other backs at that point who will offer us what Scott does.
He is nothing special for an NFL RB. If Bell is gone and we take him 3rd day fine but let's not have a bitch fest like last year when we didn't take that RB(forget his name, was a small school guy I think) if we don't take him

Not saying I think he would have but there were plenty of projections of him into the 1st before he decided to stay.
Here are a just a couple from quick searching-
28 Chicago Bears OT Ciron Black
LSU The one thing this draft has is a lot of great offensive tackles. Black is one of them.

26. Philadelphia Eagles: Ciron Black, OT, LSU
The Eagles have been good this year but not great. I am writing this draft while I am watching the LSU V. Alabama game and I am watching Ciron Black play very well. He is a big guy that can move and would be good in the screen offense that the Eagles run so often. Look for them to go with Black because they are getting old on the O-Line and they need to get younger in order to protect McNabb and make holes for Brian Westbrook.

He would be a fine late rounder.
