The last scenario for Bush would be stupid... Why would he go to San Fran to be a backup on a losing team.. when he could stay here an win.. with tht said I dont think he goes anywhere

Wouldn't we try to trade him first? There may be someone who's willing to pick him up. I don't see us just releasing him.

So you are paying his salary??? Give me a break. Bush will stay in NOLA. Book it.

his salary will make it more difficult to sign top free agents

i like his role with the team, but his salary hurts the team. i could be wrong, but i dont see him restructuring his deal

part time backs that return kicks are not going to be paid like pro-bowl caliber RBs for very long

Why wouldnt N.O. keep him??? It doesnt make sense. What do they do?? Sign an aging LT??? Nope. Depend on Mike Bell as P.T.'s main back up??? Nope. They will keep him because letting him go hurts the team.

Hope Payton and Loomis want him back. I'd keep him in NO and draft defense with our first pick in the draft.

there are about 8 million reasons

it does

draft or sign a replacement with equal or better skills

nope

as he was this year? yes. maybe you were referring to Bell being the change of pace back? in that case, then no. that's why you draft someone in the mid rounds, which is where you generally get RB role players, or sign one out of free agency

maybe, but keeping him for 8 mill can hurt the team too. look at our long list of RFA's. 8 mill can be the difference in keeping or losing a Pierre Thomas, Bushrod, Brown, Evans, Hargrove, Harper or Roby, all of which have been either equal to or greater in value to this team than Bush.

So please, instead of being so short sighted with the "just pay him" mantra, think about the repercussions throughout the roster.

Simply put, if Bush does not agree to a lower contract, then he needs to be traded or cut. I would like to see him stay, but not at the expense of the rest of the roster. And before you start saying that this is an uncapped year, let's remember that teams, just as any business organization, has a budget that they determine is most manageable for the business to succeed. Cap or no cap, the Saints will still be monetarily smart with their contracts, especially since the cap will probably return soon after this season.

I'd love for this to happen, but falling to pick #64 (hells yeah!) is highly unlikely.

My thinking is that if we can get trades for Bush, Grant and J. Brown, then we can use those picks to move up, down or even grab some picks for next year's draft. I think those three guys are expendable, and we can get some value for them, especially Brown (and probably not Grant)

Yes, I do know that losing Brown would be rough, but he is hurt too much and unreliable for the long term. Plus, he is a good to very good LT, not great, and he would be looking for ridiculous money with his new contract. Tender him, let a team sign him, take their 1st rounder and move on!

agreed. I doubt he will last past the 1st 5 picks of round 2.

I want him in NOLA and I don't care what they pay him (as long as they can sign and keep others they want). I really don't care what they pay to whom.

Benson isn't the richest owner out there, and $8m is a shitload of money.

thank God the GM's of the league think otherwise. it'd be brilliant to have the 30th best RB making more than Brees, Manning, Brady, Peterson, Fitzgerald.... ah frick it, you get the point.

yeah, stupid fricking statement by you
