what does that mean? He only receives the minimum pay. How much is that? Boston is a very expensive area to live.

doesn't the league minimum start at just under half a million for a rookie, increasing automatically for every year you are in the league? if so, he is likely making over a half million a year by now--even at base compensation. low by professional athlete standards but he isn't starving.

He's base year compensation, which affects his trade value. Basically his contract value for trade purposes is lower than his actual salary because he just got a new deal.

ASH, Thanks for the information. It looks like he needs to pick up his production otherwise he may not qualify for a pension. don't you have to be in the league 5 or 7 years?
