Building a house

I am building a house from ground up in a neighborhood where the builders are also the owners of the neighborhood. Will they work with you on the price of the house?

I was a builder for almost 20 years, most of the time in neighborhoods we developed.
Negotiating is fluid. If they're selling the houses as soon as they finish them, then not so much; if they're sitting on houses, or they are trying to get the neighborhood kicked off, they should be more flexible.
Everything in life is negotiable. You just might not always get the answer you want.

. . . . but as you know, sometimes cheap is as cheap does. Best value may not equate to the lowest price.

Absolutely. #1 son is at UNC-Chapel Hill .. the family shows up to help pick a house and negotiate the deal.
After low-balling the asking price, using time as weapon and a couple of counter offers, we got $500 of asking price ..
But it appears, at the moment, to have been a good decision.

I am sure it was, but this one was that best...

I tell people, a builder is only as good as his subs.
Good subs, good builder. Bad subs, bad builder.
Good subs, good builder. Bad subs, bad builder.
