Why do I keep hearing oo wait til next year when this guy gets to play. Aparently there was absolutely nothing wrong with the players we did have playing. (Having three more than NT winner, Alabama, going to the combine)

Really? nothing wrong with keeping the best athlete coming out of HS on the bench for most of the season isnt a problem?

their 2008 class should have plenty of NFL prospects.

I think what you're failing to realize... due to all the RS hype, many guys on that field were the best players or most hyped players at that position.. or damn near it...
We need to get over it. That's not the first year LSU has had prospects that are that good. It's just the fact that we sucked hardcore that year that we needed something to cling to. To give us hope. Now the harsh reality of the situation is settling.

Maybe, by this rationale, it made sense for Miles to keep the underclassmen on the bench. After all, if the seniors were this good, they should have been playing.
Can't have it both ways.

I think this puts the "Miles can't develop talent" myth to bed also.

No it does not. NFL teams take a lot of players based on combine results and potential.

You can't win national championships with poor line play (offensive and defensive). We could've had Peyton Manning, Chris Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Adrian Peterson etc and still not won the championship.
I don't know if it was the scheme, the coaching or the talent level but neither line played well this year, most notably the O'Line.
It doesn't matter if all of our skill position players turn out to be All Americans. We won't win without good line play.

Whoever asked for the link. Its on the front page of tiger droppings.com. This does prove that Les can't develop talent. NFL goes off potential not JUST performance.
The reason people still wanted to see RS play is because he has a natural ability to make plays. Even though he has lots of potential, it seems he can probably still do very good things without being developed. Which at this point, with our coaching, seems to be our only hope.

Just because we have more seniors does not mean we have better.

The process is a lot more select and based on player evaluation, not potential. Scout's vote on players position by position.
How are players selected for the NFL Combine?
Participants are determined annually by a Selection Committee. The Directors of both National and BLESTO scouting services, which combined represent twenty-five NFL teams, are joined by members of various NFL player personnel departments to form the committee. The participating NFL executives can rotate on a yearly basis, and remain anonymous. ALL eligible players are reviewed and voted on by the committee members. Each athlete receiving the necessary number of votes, by position, is then extended an invitation. While it is not a perfect science, the goal of the committee is to invite every player that will be drafted in the ensuing NFL Draft.

They invite players they believe WILL be drafted. These players don't have combine stats yet. This is based more on player development. However, winning NC is based on a team working as a unit not individual players.

um.
Craig Loston = #1 Saftey / Chad Jones = #1 Safety
Rueban Randal = #1 WR / T.T. = #2 WR

Miles has gotten basically the same players Saban would have gotten.
Too much is made over Sabans players/Miles players
