Walking out of movies

Guy in another thread said that he walked out 1/4 of the way through The Postman. I don't get this. Putting aside the fact I like The Postman, I've never walked out on a movie.
I paid the ticket fee and sprung for popcorn and a coke. I'm not walking out, unless the movie turns out to be Salo or something.
Have you ever walked out of a movie? If so, what was it?

I completely agree bro. Once I've paid, i'm gonna ride it out for better or worse.

Avatar last weekend. I'm tired of libs pushing that commie, tree-hugging, global warming BS. The movie was downright un-American.

If you were interested enough in a movie to pay to see it, then no, I really don't get walking about of a movie.

If I go spend a shite ton of money to go see a movie in a theater, it is most likely a movie I've been waiting months or years to see or a movie where I'm almost certain I'll love it. It just seems silly to me to drop 9 bucks on a movie without doing some kind of research into it.

The New World - 2005
Went with a group of friends on a Sunday during college.
Combination of how the plot played out and the movie being literally 3 hours long.
It was a split decision between those that left and stayed. Ive still never seen the end of it, but I know what happened.

I walked out of the Halloween remake and Jarhead. I didn't pay for Halloween. My cousin wanted me to go see it with, but I told him I wasn't wasting my money on it so he payed my way in. I left after like the first hour. I went see Jarhead b/c my theater teacher gave us bonus points if we brought the stubs to certain movies he suggested. I thought I might like it, but it was terrible so I figured no reason to watch this shite when all I really needed was the stub.

Usually if I don't like a movie, I will watch it all and then go sneak into another movie to get my money's worth(especially if I get a large coke and popcorn and utilize the refill)

I've never walked out of a movie before, I just don't get doing that. No matter how bad a movie is I always want to see how it turns out.

I agree when it comes to non-comedies. Usually no matter how bad the movie is, I am too curious about the ending to leave. Comedies are another story. In high school a big group of us went to see Stuck On You for God knows why. When the movie was basically resolved but wouldn't fricking end, most of us walked out.

I've only done it once or twice. Only one I can remember recently was walking out of Year One to go see The Hangover instead...best decision of my life.
Oh and this is one of the few opportunities I've gotten to show off what I learned in Economics. This is a prime example of what is called a "Sunk Cost". The basic logic is that, if I paid for the movie I'm going to watch it, even if it sucks. However, the fact that you already paid, and cannot get your money back is a "sunk cost." That money is gone no matter what, and should play no part in your decision. The next thing to decide is "Do I want to sit here for another hour of a crap movie, or do I want to say 'frick it' and leave and do something more productive for an hour?" The latter choice is the more economical choice.
BAM!...that is why you leave a movie.

well, it depends what you can do with your time.
Comedies, I would agree that the sunk cost allows you to leave the movie with no regrets but some dramas no matter how bad they suck, you still kind of want to see the end.

I don't walk out...I'll just rub one out and take a nap in the theater

Natural Born Killers.
Simple reason - I wasn't stoned or trippin.

I don't know why I remember this, but I walked out of The Temp to go see Princess Bride.
Never finished the Temp.

Should have at least known that was a Terrence Malick film, who makes very slow meditative movies.

Only movie I ever walked out on was Highlander 2.

A lesson on sunk cost and opportunity cost. Move this to the Money Board!

I went to see 28 days later and there was a black couple behind me. If anyone has ever seen it the guy is naked at the beginning lying in the bed, anyway the chick told her man that they needed to leave cause she didn't pay good money to see white dick.
That was the best part of the movie, her not the white penis.

haha sorry for that...walking out on movies was actually the example my teacher used in class, which is why I thought of it.
