Today has a special meaning to me, it's the 10th anniversary of my dad's passing.

A greater man this world has not seen. He was smart, funny and everything you would think a father should be. I couldn't explain to you the impact he had on my life, along with my siblings and so many others.

Although he wasn't afforded the opportunity to attend LSU, as he joined the Army out of high school, he was a huge Tiger fan and more importantly, a huge supporter of Louisiana. The opportunities he provided allowed me to graduate from LSU in 1994. I also served in the Army because that's who we are.

Although there are tons of memories I have of my dad, one of the last was us watching the 1999 Arkansas game at his house. You remember that game, LSU was 2-8 and DiNardo had just been fired. Upon watching that game, I decided to buy season tickets for us to enjoy. Unfortunately, he died just over a month after, unexpectedly. Every time the Tigers have played since, I feel both a sense of joy and pain.

He never got to experience the Tigers of the last decade. He would have been so proud.

For those that think my displeasure with Miles means anything other than a displeasure with Miles, I ask you to read this post twice. I am not in Orlando because I will be paying my respect to my father and enjoying the New Year as best as I can with my family while watching OUR Tigers kick the crap out of Penn State.

Happy New Year to all.
(And excuse the long winded post)

Hope the day ends in a very nice way for you. Even though it's been years, my thoughts are with you and your siblings.

Good stuff drizz. My father brought me up on LSU as well from the age of five. Anytime I think LSU, I will think him too.

Thanks for your service, thanks for your Dad's service to our country.

For your Dad

Dec. 11th was one year since I loss my Dad so I can certainly echo your sentiments.

Maybe you can go place a purple & gold flower on his gravesite.

Thank you for posting that. You got me rather choked up as I understand. I miss my dad & mom so much every football season. When we won the NC in 2003, I literally could not stop crying for about 10 minutes because all I could think of was how much I wish they were alive and to share the joy of that night with them.

to you!

January 4th, 2004, I sat in my seat in the Dome of about 15-20 minutes post game with my head in my hands. I don't know if I cried, but I was clearly emotional thinking about my father and wishing he could have shared that magical moment/season with us.

I hope the New Year greets you and yours with health and happiness!

I understand and cheers to you. BTW, my dad was retired from the USAF but did get to go to LSU after WWII. After college he went into the Air Force. Thank you for your service for our nation!

My dad passed away this past Dec. 10th. Yesterday was the first game I watched at my parent's house, and he wasn't there. Unfortunately, the last game we got to watch together was the Ole Miss game....crushing on a couple different levels.

Very sorry for your loss, Fury. I wish you and your family the absolute best. Regardless of the saying, time doesn't heal all wounds, but try to remember and embrace the good times.
