Always good to be in the top 10.

BTW - for those who argue that the NCAA should drop a regular season game and go with a playoff, here's why that will never happen:

Something like 8 SEC teams in the top 20.

Pretty good.

For alot of schools the value of the football program is very minuscule compared to the value of the school itself. Texas has an endowment of $7 billion in addition to all the revenue they generate from tuition, research, etc. I'm not saying that having a valuable football program isn't good but its such a small component of the schools value.

The waiting list to obtain season tickets for the Crimson Tide is currently 15,210 names long. Once selected, new ticket holders must make a donation to the athletic department that ranges from $5,000 to $500,000 (depending on seat location) before receiving any tickets.

and ALOT of LSU fans bitch about having to donate $100 a year for LSU tickets

Anybody know how much money we were offered to go to Atlanta to play UNC? Probably going to cost us 4 mil in the long run....

This is why Mack Brown got a raise. Say what you will about him as a coach, but he runs the biggest cash cow in college athletics. And no, Texas has not always generated that kind of revenue.

Good, so a buy out should be no problem.

Probably not...how much of a buy out do you want to stop bringing your teenage like flames to the Rant?

Nice article. I'm confused about one thing though:

quote:

An agreement that gives Notre Dame 1/66 of all Bowl Championship Series net revenues, means the Fighting Irish have received $4 million in payments from the BCS over the last three years, despite going 15-21 in the regular season and not qualifying for a single New Year’s Day or later bowl game.

How the hell did they swing that deal?

True in the case of Texas, not so much for some of the other schools though.

The school where football is *really* tiny compared with endowment has got to be Harvard.
