2. WTF is Gilly. I'm not understanding the reference here. Completely unfunny. I can't figure what this is about. Dennis the Menace?

I haven't seen this week's yet, but I really like Gilly usually when they have it.

This was a great skit in my opinion. It made fun of Yo Gabba Gabba on Nickelodeon, and I thought it was totally on point. However, much like their skit that made fun of the Insane Clown Posse, I don't think a lot of people understood it because they targeted something that isn't very famous.

And fwiw, Kenan is one of the worst cast members I have ever seen.

It is unwatchable. Worst comedy show on TV easily.

It's the same thing every time. I just don't get it. It's borderline strange.

I'd have never gotten this at all. I wasn't even aware Nickelodeon was still on TV. I'm going to have to check this show out now just because I want to get the reference.

To be fair, SNL has always been like this. I never "got" Sprockets, but I could see why other people liked it.

Some that I really like:

--the ones when Will Forte is the lockerroom coach who breaks out into dance

--Scared Straight - it's one of the only funny ones that Kenan does

--2 A-holes - whatever happened to this one? it was great

The only reason that I have heard of Yo Gabba Gabba is because of the Soup. Joel McHale shows a handful of the most ridiculous clips from that show. It's like Pee Wee Herman mixed with the Teletubbies. I assume the creators take a lot of drugs.

I think most people that talk about how bad the show is, don't watch it.

The show has always been hit and miss. Even in the glory years the show was hit and miss.

People that opine for the days of Belushi, Murray and Akroyd would probably gnaw their own hand off if I tied them down and made them watch 5 hours of the supposed glory years.

There has never been a time when the show was more hit than miss. That last half-hour has always been the place laughs go to die.

I don't agree. I think the early 90's, late 90's and even early 00's were more hit than miss. Plus, any season that had Norm doing Weekend Update meant that it was worth watching just for that.

Jersey,

The last half hour has always been almost 100% bad, so all it takes is one or two skits in the first hour to suck for it to be over 50% miss.

So even in good episodes that last half hour and a miss or two in the first hour can make it more miss than hit.

When I said it has always been more miss than hit, I didn't mean 80% miss 20% hit. I meant it has always been about 50% 50%.

The show has pretty much blew in my opinion since Will Farrell left. No doubt one of the top 3 or 4 funniest people they ever had on the show.

And the dominican skit was horrible. People dancing the whole time. Beyond me. Apparently thats what dominicans do? WTF?

actuallly i thought it was a good idea, just too long and poorly executed. if you've ever watched univision, it's EXACTLY like that on the talk shows.

you also have to think they're going after the latin demo.

disagree. The last half hour has always been more "experimental" and therefore less mainstream. But I have never associated a decline in quality there in the past.

you must be really young. he isn't even in the top 10, possibly top 20 of that show. he was really funny, but they guys from the 80's and early 90's are head and shoulders funnier than him.

(Farley, Sandler, Spade, Murphy, Belushi, Hartman, Radner, Chase, McDonald, just to name a few)

That shite was awful.

I did love the short skit about the pamajas/knife fight in the dark/drugs. That was hilarious.

This.

I don't understand why people waste a couple of hours on this show every week anymore. Just wait to hear about what skits were great when that actually happens and then go find them on the internet. The only ones of late that I have heard of and checked out later and agreed were funny pretty much all involved Justin Timberlake. Other than that for the most part.

+1

The last half hour isn't always "bad." It's just really different. I remember always enjoying Tracy Morgan's Astronaut Jones in the last 15 minutes of a show. I really enjoy the random, weird humor that tends to turn up at this point in the show.

The sad thing is that when SNL was big on reruns on Comedy Central they always cut half an hour out so some of that experimental stuff hasn't been seen in years.
