Starbuck and CC's always seem to have stale building material quality pastries. Either would be a nice place to go after dinner for coffee & dessert, but the pastries are terrible.

FWIW, John Folse does the CC's pastries.

Bigger question: why you buying Starbucks coffee?

My wife is addicted to their banana-walnut bread. So are a lot of other people because it sells out fast.
I don't eat their pastries. Just espresso and oatmeal. The oatmeal with dried fruit is excellent, especially with a sprinkling of cinnamin.

Because you wanted to spend $5 + on coffee and a cardboard pastry?
BTW, when I go to the Starbucks inside Target, I never buy Starbucks' pastries. Target has awesome almond croissants and other goodies in their bakery section.

I love their coffee, but you are right, their pastries are not very good. Every now and then I get blue berry muffin, but that is about it.
Someone got me a pound of beans of their Christmas blend today. Can't wait to make some coffee.

I'm not sure how people can say their coffee sucks. It is actually really good coffee.

It's called class envy. They can't afford Starbucks so they knock it.

i'm the same way .. i like a good piece of cake or one donut here and there with my coffee too .. but both starbucks and community coffee are horrible with their pastries .. after the hornets game friday night i did hit the dunkin donuts on veterans and got me a couple of donuts and a big cup of coffee .. that was the shite ..

I agree. Not only do I really like it, but I know for a fact that they buy very good beans for their coffee. I have a relative that used to tell me that when she worked for Procter and Gamble(folgers) as a coffee buyer. She used to travel the world to coffee plantations and conferences, etc and knows her shite. As luck would have it, she now works for Starbucks in their corporate offices.
As far as the expense, if you buy starbucks coffee from wal-mart, the difference per pot of coffee is very little compared to the "cheap" stuff.

i get a tall coffee maybe once or twice a week from there..usually if i'm running late and didn't have time to make some at home.
i think a tall is $1.61 including tax so its not THAT expensive. those who talk about $5 coffee at starbucks aren't buying the same coffee i am.
i prefer dunkin donuts coffee but there's not one convienent to me and we don't have community or peet's up here.

I always find that funny too. Anytime the subject of coffee shops comes up(especially Starbucks) someone always throws out that $5 figure. I know it comes from the blowhards in the financial industry who try to used the $5 a day figure to show how you could be a millionair by cutting out the coffee shop stop.
I go once every few weeks to a PJ's by my work. It's ok, but I much prefer Starbucks.

I would prefer about 7-10 local roasters in NorCal than Starbucks. Chainwise....Peets >>> Starbucks

Starbuck's is high class now?
I must have missed the memo

I frequently meet people in coffee shops for business. I have noticed a big difference in the clientele between Starbucks and CC's. Starbucks's customer base seems to be about 70% female and CC's about 70% male. This is not a scientific poll and it may be limited to the ones I frequent, but is a big demographic difference.
