No. He should not be benched. Take a deep breath and understand that 20 year old students in college get homesick. He was not talking about LSU. He was talking about not being able to be close to home in Detroit. He would have transfered if it was really an issue.

Never has so much meaning been placed in twenty words at LSU since I read "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran in college in the seventies.

Very good post. My dad told me a long time ago that if you do anything challenging, you will want to quit it at least twice and at times consider it the worst decision of your life. It's definitely true, and the hardest part is realizing when to quit and when to persevere.

thank you. the list continues, but i figured i'd made my point.

that said - there are several GREAT things about my job that balance that all out.

i'm sure that when barksdale was celebrating a national title two years ago, he wasn't thinking that coming to LSU was the biggest mistake he'd ever made.

IMHO, if I was L.M., J.B. and myself would have a heart to heart talk and the truth would be revealed. And as the H.C. of this team, if I was L.M., I'd make that decision. Not some board sites opinion? There will be more garbage, potty mouth idiots jumping on crap like this, it makes it preposterous.

I agree with everything your saying and like I said I don't blame him. I have been away from home and know what its like. But he is playing a sport where critical that every man does his job and be in it 100%. Saying such things in "PUBLIC" raises alot of doubts and questions.

It's normally the case with high risk/high reward positions. That's why so many people quit in their first couple of years and why entry level salaries and/or hours are so awful in most cases.

this isn't a hospital. hes not a doctor. this is football. hes 20 years old. come on. yeah its critical to give 100%, but seriously this is a bit ridiculous how much its blown up and read into.

i forget if its this thread or another one where i already said this, but i'd hate to be the girlfriend of any of you guys.

you read into stuff more than any chick i've ever met.

and to keys and your recent post - i agree 100%. and thats what i like about it. if that weeds someone out, then that just helps me!

I agree with the last post. In my job field we call it threat & error management. Barksdale is the threat to the team, and him not being happy at LSU can cause the team to suffer with his attitude. Miles should have a heart to heart with the man which iam pretty sure Miles did and if he is still not happy then the man needs to be release from his commitment to LSU. Since he is a starter give Barksdale the choice to either stay or leave. If he leaves then good bye, and thank you for giving us another scholly for someone who wants to be a TIGER. If he decides to stay then that man needs to prove that he deserve to be in a TIGER Uniform.

The first question is did he actually write this.

If so,

I totally disagree with the above quote. He is a representative of LSU. He owes this university complete loyalty AT A MINIMUM. Act like a fu--king adult and keep these thoughts to yourself. That's the problem with today's youth. NO ACCOUNTABILITY. This gets me sick to my stomach and do not want him benched. I WANT HIM DISMISSED IMMEDIATELY...(if he wrote it)

by not punishing this kind of behavior, you are basically endorsing it.

Having those kind of feelings and attitude is fine and dandy, but if you are a high profile player, journalist, spokesperson etc, you have a obligation to uphold an image. You have a responsibility to the people you represent. This could be very damaging from the position he is in. I could say all day long that "lsu was the bigest mistake of my life".

He can tell his friends, familly. But this made it's way to ESPN. The worldwide leader in sports.

I wonder how many RECRUITS watch college football live?

I also wonder if it is true at all? How much negative recruiting is out there? We don't really know what happened. A booster from another school could have hacked it, and sent it to espn.

And don't tell me it's not possible.

Just remember we are talking about the idiot phenomenon known as Twitter..."Look at me everyone syndrome".

We have become obsessed with fame and people taking notice of our every words and emotions. I get so sick of people on Facebook with all of their "I hate my life" bullshite comments (why I might just get rid of mine and have zero social sites at all). Twitter is just another example of abuse of thought in a young mind. Barksdale and others need to stop that shite. It messes with recruiting worse than any of us on Td.com could even think about with our posts.

Les supporting the team at the CWS was great. Les on Twitter was borderline stupid. I realize we are in the 21st century, but coaches need to stop advocating for this nuisance of technology. Barksdale and others use Twitter the same way e-badasses come on and cuss out other "user names". It's out of hand.

Barksdale, have a seat.
