Why not add a second bye week to the CFB schedule?

It would extend the season by a week, which is good for fans. Huge revenue impact with TV and merchandise sales I would think. Teams might also be more inclined to toughen their OOC schedule if they knew they would have an extra week of rest/prep along the way.

One of the main reasons the presidents are against a playoff is because of extending the season. Yet with 12 game schedules and conference championship games and now the bcscg played a week later, they have already extended the season.

I would like to see extra bye weeks for teams. I think it's too much to ask the players to play 8+ consecutive games which is the case some times.

Sarcasm or not, it could be extended on the front end (which I'd be less in favor of than extending the back end).

Why not get rid of the bye weeks, cut the season back to 11 games, and have a playoff.

Because if my team is not one of the 12 or 13 lucky ones, you just cut my season short by two weeks - and my school lost the potential revenue of one more home date.

USC normally gets 2. So does the Big East. That's how on Championship Sat when the SEC and BIG 12 are playing game 13, they're on game 12.

We use to have 2 Bye weeks. When the 12 game was added, it took away one. USC and the big east dont play a conf. championship they play everyone in the confrence. they dont have to have the 1st week in dec as a championship weekend like the SEC/ Big 12

Auburn played 11 games straight this year with their bye week coming the week before the Alabama game. That is complete bullshite. I am for 2 bye weeks in the season.

Season starts the fisrt Saturday of September for the majority of schools. Championship games are he first Saturday of December. That's a 14 week window.

They won't start the season in August, because most schools are not in session yet, and they won't move Championship games back because lots of students are finishing up.

So it wouldn't be such a hard thing to imagine.

The college football season is anchored by Labor Day weekend on the front end and Thanksgiving weekend on the back end. In some years, that encompasses 14 weeks. This year, Labor Day was late (7-Sep, the latest possible date), therefore there were only 13 weeks in between.

Soooo, the end of all this is that there will be some years with 2 standard bye weeks. It's just that most of the time it will be only 1.

Baseball doesn't seem to have a problem with it during the Spring semester...
