Drew Brees would be running short-side options if he was the LSU QB under Crowton.

That's really all that needs to be said.

Major difference was we were a running team. We averaged 167 ypg rushing last year. This year we average 130 ypg. Granted, we weren't as good at rushing last year as people think, but Chuck was a one man show.

Think about it this way. We averaged 130 ypg rushing. Take out sack yardage per game (-238 total yards over 12 game or ~-20 yards/game, and we are at 150 ypg rushing.

In 2008, we had 167 ypg. Take out our sack yardage per game (185 in 13 games or 14 yards/game), and you are at 181 ypg rushing.

So to recap, without sack yardage,
we lost about 30 yards rushing per game this season. Not as drastic as most people think, but still bad.

Gotta love those 7-step drop play-action calls on 3rd and 11 when your QB has a propensity to take sacks.

Heck no the passing game wasn't better in 08. Look at the stats that you posted. Our passing sucked in 08 not to mention we had record breaking INT's for TD's. Is there any stat that suggests our passing was better in 08?

two words Offensive Line.

If we had one this year you could cut about half of those sacks, IMO 16 sacks through 9 and 1 quarter games is better than 16INTs through 8.

I mean damn't if we had a better OL we should easily make up those 30yd/game that we lost.

Not only would the running game be better but with a decent O-Line we could have had longer drives leading to an increase in time of possession. There were just too many 3 and outs and way too many sacks. We just didn't have as many offensive plays as our opponents in most of the games this year.To be fair the offense couldn't stay on the field and the defense couldn't get off. Against Washington LSU ran 48 plays to Washington's 83.

I think he was using "Starting QB" as criteria. Not just LSU's overall stats.

Really? I thought Hatch was the starting QB?

Hes comparing stats from a two-yr starter, to a freshman who didnt start until the 4th game and trying to say the passing game was better over an entire yr? Thats BS, and he purposefully slanted his stats to make an invalid point.

Even with Hatch, and JLee having a miserable yr, '08 was statistically a much better yr than '09. Proving JJ is once again avg, at best. No matter what comparison you use.
