Anyone have a suggestion for a reasonable hotel in Orlando near Universal? I know a lot of people will come back with, "There are no reasonable hotels in Orlando." Going to the game with a friend, my son and grandson so I probably will need two rooms.

LaQuinta on Lee Drive has great rates and is 4 miles away from the stadium.

Have fun dodging hookers and bullets.

There are dirt cheap rooms up and down I-drive.
I-drive south of sand lake is nicer than the north side IMO & IMHO.
The doubletree across from Universal isn't bad either but it's not really in walking distance of much if that's a factor for anyone. Personally I'd probably stay at one of the hotels near Pointe Orlando on I-drive.

I'm going to agree here. While Winter Park is a very nice city, there are a lot of iffy areas that claim that name.

Also, I know someone that booked at the Parliament House Motor Inn not realizing it was a gay resort. While funny to us, he was a little uncomfortable.

Any inexpensive places for a couple of college students? ( when I mean a couple I mean we will pack that hotel room with 10 people)

I would check out hotels on international drive...they almost give some of those places away...this would be a good alternative if you like cheap....the only down part of that equation is the hotels are far from the stadium but close to theme parks...if you want a really cheap hotel and don't mind it being in crack town...which is what I did when I was in college...check out hotels close to the stadium off of colonial drive near the I4...we are talking like $29 a night...lots of crack heads and hookers...enjoy...

I'm staying at Doubletree on Major Blvd, but did a lot of research on it. Plenty good deals close to Universal. Check these out:
Best Western and Fairfield Inn on Vineland Road
Sleep Inn, Comfort Suites, and LaQuinta Inn on Major Blvd.
Best deal I found, and almost pulled the trigger on is a Best Western on Universal Blvd. It used to be a Clarion. If you Google "Clarion Orlando" it will pull the hotel up. Just completed a multi-million renovation and rates are about $79/night.

Everyone avoid the Holiday Inn on International Drive. It is a dump.
