If it's Penn State in Capital One...

Anyone impressed or not with Penn State's record this year? Of the Big Ten teams that they played, only three had winning records and two of them (Ohio State and Iowa) beat them. The rest of their schedule included Eastern Illinois, Temple, Akron, and Syracuse.
Maybe this explains why their defense is so highly rated? They ended the season ranked 8th nationally in total defense.
My point is that their defense numbers may be a bit deceiving.

Your probably right. Honestly, I haven't real impressed with any Big Ten team during the bowl season the last couple of years.

The Big X doesn't deserve 2 teams in the BCS and hasn't for the last like 3 years; the auto bid into the Rose with OSU in the title game has put them behind the 8ball come bowl season.
I think PSU actually matches up pretty well with most teams; just depends on the day of the week on if they show up

I'm not impressed with any Big 10 team this year. Iowa almost lost to Northern Iowa and Arkansas St. Ohio St was probably the most impressive, they beat Penn St and Iowa, but needed OT to beat Iowa's backup QB and of course they lost at home to the worst USC team in years.

we should easily beat Penn St. I believe the guys will be ready for this one!

I wasn't impressed with Iowa in 04 for the 05 Cap 1 game. Come to think of it, I wasn't impressed with this La Tech Bullpuppies this year.
This Tiger team doesn't do anything with ease so I think Iowa or PSU will be a tough game. Of course, I would love to see a 5th consecutive skull dragging of a Tiger bowl opponent.

Penn State is a very good team. It would not surprise me at all if they beat the LSU Tigers.

Miles does seem to get our guys well prepared for the bowl games (at least that's his track record). Whether it's Iowa or Penn State, I think we'll be ready and it will be a good game. I thought Ga Tech would smoke us last year.....

Alabama is a good footbal team I think they will beat Florida and TCU in the NCG

Anyone think the Fiesta will pick PSU? I posted in another thread that friends in Pa. think they are going to AZ. They said the media there is saying that the Fiesta will want PSU over Iowa because they will bring more people and a bigger TV audience.

This is actually a good point, and makes sense. You've basically got Big10 teams "playing up" in their bowl game in terms of the competition.
Similar situation to Notre Dame that my friends and I have discussed before relative to their horrendous bowl record of late ... because of their "name" they always get a better bowl game than they deserve and hence play a better team ... and, as should be no surprise, they quite often lose to that better team. In a way, they are a victim of their own success.

like LSU, Penn St has athletes all over the field, but are struggling to put it all together...will be a GREAT primer for things to come in 2010 for both teams IMO!

Alabama is good, but I'm willing to bet they can't beat 2 teams in the NCG...

If it does turn out to be Penn State, I think it will be more like when LSU met ND in the Sugar Bowl a few years back... an absolute arse smacking.
41-14 LSU

Penn St's best wins are 9-3 Temple and 8-4 Northwestern. Those are also the only defeated foes with records over .500

Then I guess that Temple and Northwestern are better than all the teams LSU has beaten.
