Mike Davis....McCarthy
Hunter....McCarthy
Jacobs.....McCarthy
Lee....McCarthy
Maclin...Porter
Mathieu....Porter
Muncie....Porter
Porter....Porter
Vinson...Porter
Washington....McCarthy

Blue....Porter
Seastrunk...Porter
Luc....McCarthy

I'm not being pessemistic and saying that we will lose every single one of these players. I just wanted to know from some our gurus which ones could be in jeopardy. Since every board on here that's been started it just results in trashing our program or our coach. I just wanna know what recruits we could possibly lose, not why recruits shouldn't come to LSU. Thanks in advance

I wouldnt worry about any in-state guys for now. The only few that I'm concerned with are Lache, Davis, Hunter, and Ware.

Who did we lose last year when we dumped all of those great recruiters of the defensive side of the ball and when we had a much worse season?

Just for perspective.

This place is so pessimistic lately.

With that being said, I do think it's a real chance, I just hate the way that most of these threads are drive by's from the rant. Very few people want to actually discuss anything, they just want to whine and preach doom and gloom.

How many of those great recruits were being recruited by M&P?

FWIW, Vinson is listed as a Ron Cooper recruit, and I agree with HF that the in-state guys aren't going to follow coaches to Memphis or wherever.

Unfortunately, Rivals shifts their list once a coach quits or gets fired (give it a few months for Porter and whoever else leaves), but I remember that BDP had 4 or 5 guys committed to him. Mallory only had 1, if I remember correctly. The only guy who left from those groups was Janzen, and we all know that BDP wasn't the reason.

I think you're more likely to lose players if there is an overall change at the top, a la Tubbs last year. You're less likely to lose kids just because of an assistant coach leaving.

Auburn didn't even really have any kids leave last year after Willis left once he was re-hired, except for Cotton, but he was pretty much dead set on leaving once Tubby was fired.

Getting new coaches - get's new recruits -- cuts both ways.

esp if the incoming coach is stepping up to a larger program (LSU)... it may be possible he could bring one or two players.

Since LSU is about as big as it gets in terms of programs, its unlikely recruits would have anything to gain by leaving to go with Porter.

Some of those guys would come here regardless of the recruiter, but some do come for the coach and i guess we just have to wait and see.

We lost 4 star LB Petey Smith too. He is a dumbass though. His brother plays for AU and has been doing well and considering our LB situation, he would have played a ton this year. May have been a starter. Oh well, I am sure he enjoyed the bench and scout team at Bama and will next year too.

Net/net though, we picked up Tyrick, Benton, and Blake. All of who were not even on the radar. So losing Tubbs actually upgraded our class at the end of the day.

Was Petey ever committed though? I can't remember if he was or wasn't.

Not to worry Miles usually takes a hands on with all recruits, that is why we only lose 1 or 2 each year.
