Successful coaches are ones that lead the team

to reach its full potential - Miles was unable to do that last year and this year. Brady was unable to do that on a consistent basis. Laval didn't do it either.
Going back to this baseball team, Maneiri didn't stay with the status quo when the results were not what he wanted on the field despite changing positions of two of your best players - LeMahieu and Schimpf. The head coach gets paid to make the tough decisions, not rely on coordinators, the press box, or even the players on the field. Maneiri didn't listen to the Rant about starting Ranaudo in game 2 instead of holding him out for game 3. It was a big decision that he made on his own that won him a national title.
Miles needs to make more of those types of decisions during the year - that's why he is getting paid $3 million. If the running game is not there, move some linemen around, shuffle the deck. If Chris Garrett showed more potential during fall, elevate him to #2 over Jarrett Lee.
Make the tough decisions to provide the best chance of success.

Garrett is an Alabama reject and looked like tihs in the spring game.

Let's see. During the time period in question Miles switched quarterbacks from Hatch to Lee to Jefferson (hasn't worked), has had to play no less than 4 different running backs, has started a freshman in the secondary, moved a defensive lineman to offensive line, moved a safety to linebacker, fired his co-dcs, hired a new dc (with good results), and has an overall record of 16-8.

I would say he didnt do it in most of his years here.
2005 and 2006 should have been better.
2007 we should have never lost two. We got lucky to be in the BCS.

He did this to save his arse and technical I don't think he "fired" them.

(1) Of course he had choices. Last time I checked we had more than 22 players on the team. However, he chose to start the freshman and make the other moves because it was the best thing for the team. What the original poster was complaining about was that Miles would not make the tough choices.
(2) So the only reason he fired the co-dcs was to save his arse(you can mince words all you want) and not to make the team better? Sounds like a somewhat shallow point of view to me.
(3) Will the law of averages still be catching up if we go 10-3? Or will the Rant say we have improved from 8-5? I won't hold my breath. This board would have run Bill Walsh out of town on a rail.

Alabama was one of the offers Chris received, and he chose LSU!
