He said the booth told him there was possibly a 12th man on D.

He said it on his interview that was just broadcasted on ESPN.

That's an awesome excuse.
I've based my life on excuses, and I can tell you, that's a whopper.

I figured out why he let the clock wind down instead of calling the timeout: he was afraid of leaving time on the clock for Ole Miss's offense.

No....he was saying that he was telling the refs the play was over, the LSU receiver was down.
If you're talking about the "spike it" motion.

The bullshite just keeps piling up from this guy. I've always believed he was a con man who rode a magic carpet for the first three years after taking over the team/program that Saban built. In years four and five, with the team/program completely his, his true abilities and colors are showing.

Miles now is a liar. I knew he couldn't coach, but I thought he was good man.

...and a lot of it is fans "believing" things instead of "knowing" things. Les Miles' coaching prowess is probably not debatable; but most of the conspiracy theories surrounding the game are.

I imagine there was a lot of confusion going on in the headphones. You can't hang your hat (no pun intended) on the refs catching the 12 men on D.
I still don't see why the field goal unit isn't on the field. I would just admit to being confused after the game. I mean maybe he did see the clock and motioned to spike it with 2-3 seconds left, then started to change his mind after seeing one tick on the clock...but it was too late.
Still he seemed confused like he thought we had a TO...i.e. asking the cop next to him.
3 inexcusable errors 1) the pass plays 2) the last time out 3) the field goal unit not on the field. It was bad, bad coaching. I still feel sorry for those players.

Miles said there were three hobos on the field that nobody can explain
