It helps to just say it out loud...

I thought Les Miles was a bad hire in 2005 and thought I was wrong at first but am now starting to reconsider in light of concerning trends I've been seeing on the field since Virginia Tech, with the exceptions being Ohio State and Georgia Tech.

It's Ok to be wrong every now and then. Everyone is wrong occasionally.

This was a National Championship that he led his team to. That's like saying sex is no fun with the exception being the happy ending.

After that tennessee game, I put "bad hire skip" on the billboard in front of my store. That game still pisses me off.

Yeah and after the VA Tech game, our team looked like a shell of its former self. Explain UK and Arkansas to us. What about his last-second shenanigans against Auburn that just so happened to go in our favor. The Florida game was good, but it should have never had to come down to all those fourth-down conversions. Am I happy we won the 2007 NC? frick yeah, I'm ecstatic. It's just that the rest of the country and the media refuses to consider it legitimate. All we had to do was beat Arkansas to shut them up, but we couldn't.

Makes no sense, FWIW. It was a great call to give your team two chances to win rather than only one.

he was an average but not great hire /thread

There are at least a dozen programs right now that wish they would have hired Miles in 2005.

We were the UNDISPUTED champs in 07. No one outside of BR questions that title. LSU was the best team in 07 and had the best season of anyone in the country. Only the self-loathing, Miles bashing idiots question it.
The one in 03, that's a little less clear cut.

What if Matt Flynn had taken a sack, fumbled the snap, had the ball tipped by the defensive back only to land on the ground with time expired? You'd have been pissed and asked, "Why didn't we call a timeout and then bring the field goal unit out?" It's as if he was calling plays without knowing how much time was left on the clock. We let way too much time expire before getting the play off that we ran a huge risk of time expiring in the event we didn't score.

Do you not remember everyone questioning as to why neither UGA, USC, nor Oklahoma got a shot?
Posted on 11/19/09 at 3:34 pm to OFWHAP
JPLSU1981 is right! We had time to run another play! Amazed with all the lesticle stuff around that play when in fact he would have been a conservative azz if he hadn't of tried. Two chances is better than one.

How many of you idiots thought Les Miles was a bad hire in 2007 when we won the BCS C.G.
How many of you idiots thought Paul Maineri was a bad hire in 2007?

i say miles is not the best coach for us and everyone jumps down my throat like rabid mice...you guys make the same comment and there are nothing but pussycats around here

Yeah, there's no way around it. Les Miles has done a fantastic job at LSU. Anyone that says otherwise is simply put: wrong.
Like I said, though, it's ok to be wrong every now and then.
