I was listening to Lynn and Bart yesterday and they made a good point about Crowten. Keiland was busting big runs from the start of the game and its like like Crowten completly ignored that and kept going away from it. First play of the game KW went for like 16 yards. Next few plays were passes for hardly nothing. Later in the game KW gets the ball again for another big gain then right back out again. I dont understand this, and if you look back to 2007 and 2008 you will see the same type of thing happening in other games (Kentucky 2007) rings a bell. Can someone explain this?

This is what I don't get -

What happened to the "run it until the stop it" philosophy??

Is that too old fashioned for the wizard??

Seems he keeps running stuff that has never worked - won't work - can't work, but pulls out the stuff that does work.

I just go crazy with that. Maybe I'm just not smart as the wiz.

At one point, we threw, I think, 6 straight passes. At the time Hawthorne noted that KW had rushed 9 times for 93 yards, yet he doesn't see the rock for at least two complete possessions?

I am lacking confidence that things are magically going to get better next year. True, JJ has gotten a bit better, but not to the point of taking us to the SEC championship, especially with GC calling the plays.

I dont like bashing anyone at LSU but its kinda hard not to when you see this happening. And is it just me or does this type of play calling seem to happen more when the game are close, or is it this that is the cause of the game being close? I say this because for the AU game it seemed like they stuck to the plays that were working because we had a comfortable lead, but with UF, Bama, La Tech it seemed like everytime I seen some production out of the offense he would change it I swear it really does make me want to beat my head against the wall.

So who's done better? Jimbo Fisher? Auburn OC? QB has alot to do with it. That is where we are missing out.

Simple those QBs are playing much better than LSU's.
Jj doesn't know what he is doing most of the time thus the delays in getting the plays run.
He doesn't seem to know his progressions on pass plays.
Name the teams in SEC that would trade QBs with LSU.
Miles is a decent guy,he doesn't openly blame his players when things go wrong.
This is a learning year for JJ,and he has shown some improvement which will make the coaches smarter.

Good post, maybe we should try Lee he has a shitload of experience.

Does make it a bit clearer that with all the weapons we have, we are sorely underachieving.

When plays don't work, he keeps running them. If they work, he never runs them again.

Anyone else noticing a trend?

So, you don't think having a freshman Jarrett Lee in 08 vs. a 5th year senior Matt Flynn could have accounted for the dropoff? Or that the Offensive Line problems this year while breaking in yet another new QB could have affected the scoring average this year?

Classic example of not being able to look behind the numbers.

So you're saying that Lee last year and Jefferson this year should be all-americans even though Lee had NO experience and Jefferson had 2 starts coming into this season? And it's pretty obvious that Jefferson has improved as this season has progressed.

who said that?

nobody is expecting an all american QB tandem the past 2 years. last year lee was reckless and hasn't developed. this year JJ is too cautious and has developed slowly

crowton is not known for developing QBs, and it is showing at LSU

This is the only thing that gives me hope for next year. JJs jr year he should be a fricking star next year. That said well probably have an offeNse ranked in the middle 60s or so. Improvement but still sucky.

I'm the last person to bash a player but i think Lee is just not a good QB...it doesn't matter how much you try to teach him.

I wouldn't necessarily say JJ is too cautious, i think Crowton has held him back some with his playcalling. I think he's developed just fine...he is the youngest QB in the SEC.

We are not the only NCAA team with a relatively inexperienced QB, and in College ball having two QB's that have both started almost a full season is not that inexperienced. How many games did the Bama QB start last year.

Answer = none! 0

The young QB's don't call the pass plays when the running game is obviously working.

Was it me or did anyone else think we could have thrown deep, or run right at them all night and blown Tech out, yet we stubbornly kept throwing out patters that nearly went for pick 6's, while KW was rolling on the ground, and where was Trindon?

Dumb, dumb, dumb!
