Premature Conclusions

Many Bama fans dismiss the PP interception along the lines of "LSU probably wouldn't have scored anyhow with JL." But this is premature.
Our 2nd TD drive began on our 41 yd line with 5:50 in the 3rd qtr. We scored at about the 3:18 mark. And JL was at the helm the whole way.
And if the Bama fans were so confident we couldn't score why were their coaches throwing the ball trying to make it a two-score game?
Scoring would've been a challenge but certainly could've been done.

Don't you know that the game was already over. Just ask the Bammers.

nobody knows what would happen if we get the INT. There are thousands of ways to score a TD.

Charles Scott broke for a td against Georgia to win that game with a lot less time. We don't know what would have happened had this been called correctly.

We could have thrown a 2 yard pass to Toliver, who then takes it the distance for a TD.
Bama fans would probably say that would never happen, but that is the same thing Bama did to us with Julio, and we have a good defense also. The fact that the refs screwed up the game is as much a discredit to Bama as it is to LSU.

bama fans assuring that we wouldnt have scored probably believe they would have scored if we did actually score. its an impossible judgement.

The bad call absolutely changed the complexion of the game.
1) I believe the trend for LSU's offense was to go nowhere for 2-3 drives, then score a touchdown, followed by 2-3 drives of nothing, followed by another TD. We would've been about due to move the ball based on this trend, especially with momentum. And had we not moved it after the INT, would have likely been able to pin Bama deep with a punt and possibly gotten one last series if we could've held them to a 3 and out (which is not unreasonable, given that they would likely be very conservative from deep in their own territory.)
2) Getting the ball on the 50 yard line after an interception with 5 minutes remaining and down by 6 points opens the playbook (might have seen more Ridley, etc.). On the other hand, getting the ball with two minutes, down by 9 points, with no time outs and about 70 yards to go limits the playbook to passing, and Bama was able to easily adjust.
It is not a given that LSU would have done anything after the INT, but not getting that call absolutely changed how the last few minutes played out. Bottom line is it was a terrible call/no call and adversely affected LSU's opportunity to have a fighting chance.

Duly noted epbart.
A .200 hitter in baseball is due after he's gone 0-4. And the momentum factor should not be dismissed.

Ask anyone who says this if they watched the Alabama/Tennessee game. Alabama held Tennessee to 3 points over 3 1/2 quarters and led 12-3 before Ingram fumbled. Then all of a sudden Tennesse walks down the field, scores a TD, gets an on-site kick, and completes a long pass to set up a potential game winning field goal.
Never underestimate the power of momentum and emotion in a game played by 20-year-olds.

The BAMA fans are in denial. Their win is tainted. They know it, just like Auburn fans knew it in '06. Everyone who has watched the replay knows it. No one can say what will happen based on the past in college football. If they could, then there wouldn't be any point in playing. But we all know this.
What we don't know is what would have happened after Peterson's interception. Maybe LSU throws an interception, maybe Lee connects on an incredible pass (like he did against Auburn last year.) Maybe BAMA holds us on downs. Maybe Ridley does a Chuck the Truck like against GA. (Did anyone honestly expect that?) Maybe a great college football game becomes a Classic game, regardless of the winner. Maybe not.
I feel bad for LSU's players because they were cheated, pure and simple. (Maybe not on purpose, but they were still cheated.) I don't feel bad for us fans that LSU lost, but as a fan of college football, I feel cheated out of the last 5 or so minutes of that game. Because of incompetent refereeing (and possibly a lack of guts to reverse a bad call), none of us will ever know what would have happened if an incredible defensive play had been called correctly. And that pretty much s*cks.
