Anybody have any thoughts as to the team preparation for the La Tech game? This is an opponent who would practically sell their children into slavery for a Tech victory against LSU. No one here is acting like we even have a game this week.

Maybe everyone is still stunned from Saturday. Give it a day or so. Yes, Tech would love bragging rights to Louisiana. Even though Boise won Friday, Tech put up a good fight. They are defintely a team and athletic program on the rise.

Tech is not good. Their defense is atrocious.

I can tell you all about Tech.

Offense:
QB - Game manager. Will NOT throw into tight coverage. Takes a ton of sacks and checks down to RB 80% of the time.

RB - Porter is good, not great.

WR - We only have 2 healthy receivers on the entire team right now... a RS Freshman and a True Freshman. Livas is about 50% with turf toe and a sprained ankle. 2 guys quit the team for personal reasons and one got hurt against Boise. We will start a TE at WR, but he's a stud (6'3, 260 and runs about a 4.6). 3 receivers being redshirted, a shirt may come off just so we can field a team in BR.

OL - Can't pass block very well, but they can't run block either.

Defense:
DL - Solid against the run. DT will play on Sundays. Don't get alot of pressure on the QB.

LB - Banged up. MLB is solid. OLB's are below average.

CB - Banged up. We only had 4 coming into the season. Our best is out. Moved a Safety to CB, but he gives alot of cushion. No cover corners, give you 10 yards and keep you in front of them.

S - Banged up. Our best DB broke his leg on the first punt against Boise. Will start a True Freshman and a RS Freshman. Boise exposed this weakness last week.

Punter - Absolutely terrible. Actually got beat out 2 weeks ago by one of the receivers who quit the team.

Kicker - Very good on FGs, cannot kick it to the End Zone.

Stats:

Total Offense: #71
Rushing - #39
Passing - #93

Total Defense: #80
Rushing - #98
Passing - #57

I expect LSU to look sluggish but they won't lose to Tech.

I would like to see LSU drill Tech. They don't get a lot of press because of how poor their team often is, but LSU should never even give Tech the option of playing. Tech will be up for this game like it's their super bowl. LSU needs to be aware that these guys are going to come in fired up. It would be nice to send Tech packing for good with another blowout loss. Hope the team isn't down from the disappointment of the Alabama game.

I don't think so. Like LSU, we just lost our super bowl. Plus, we lost the 2 games before that by a combined 3 points. The season is pretty much over for the Dawgs.

Agreed.

The defense is not as bad as some of you think. They give up a lot of yards but not a lot of points. DC Spangler employs a bend-don't-break kind of style it seems. The CBs seem to give a 10 yard cushion on every play until the red zone, and I've never seen them jam receivers at the line.

Rush defense is relatively stout. Navy broke us with the outside option, Auburn had the speed to get around the corner. Up the middle we're solid. There will be some frustrated tiger fans if Miles tries to run up the gut every down. However, if LSU passes even remotely well, we will be picked apart quickly.

Offensively, we're out of playmakers, except for TE D. Morris and Porter. They're all injured in some way.

Tech will fight hard to the bitter end, and there's a slim chance we could steal a win with enough LSU screwups, but this one should be a win for LSU, sadly.

It's obviously a step up from Tulane, but Tech gave everything they had to try and beat Boise. I think they'll be too emotionally drained to pull it together and give LSU a game.

Tech, do you agree with me that LSU would be more successful with a bigger emphasis on the passing game than the running game?

The conventional wisdom is to pound the line but Tech's biggest weakness is the secondary from the games I've seen. I don't see how the Tech DB's could handle LSU's receivers. It will be easier for Tech's front to handle LSU's RBs.

Agree. Tech's starting DB's would struggle with LSU's receivers, I don't see how our backups will be able to handle them. Both safeties are Freshmen. They will be good in the future, but can they handle a stout running game AND the bombs in Tiger Stadium right now? Very doubtful.

But at the same time, this is where LSU struggles. Do they have a QB that can beat anybody by throwing?

I don't see how they couldn't beat Tech in this area. Lafell and TT should have a field day, and a high school quarterback could probably hit them they will be so open. The only concerns are that Tech will get up for LSU and the Alabama hangover could play into Tech's favor. It would be nice for LSU to finally end the series with Tech for good with another blowout win though.

Is this really the end? We get 2 national championship teams and a Top 10 team? Say it isn't so! Not fair.

It's been 105 Years since we've won.

I'd say Tech is due. :)

Tech got physically murdered in the game with Boise. Their best receiver and running back are playing hurt and left the game the other night. Seems like they have been playing hurt most of the year.

They don't pass protect at all. Often Boise's receivers were the only players on their side of the field. They were that wide open. I bet I could throw for 300 yrds against them.

I also think they are as emotionally let down by a relatively close loss to Boise as LSU is.

I see a repeat of the AU game at best. Tech my stay in it the first quarter.

Tech will blitz a lot. they have to hurry JJ to stay in the game at all. they will be able to stop the option to the short side, which I could stop by myself, but our running game should be good enough to open up the passing. If we continue to make mistakes like the first two or three possessions against alabama Tech could keep it close till half.

and no, they are not a program on the rise, they wish they were, but are not. it takes more than a coach with a good football last name.

Tech is a decent team, but their fans need to give up the talk about beating LSU. If it doesn't happen this year then the series should be ended. It benefits LSU in almost no regard. Season ticket holders don't want to see the Tech game when choosing games to attend. If LSU wins, they were expected to. If LSU loses, then Tech gets a chance to steal in state recruits. The game also doesn't help LSU's BCS standings. Hopefully a whipping this year will end this petty obsession Tech fans have had with LSU.

In all honesty, most of us don't really care to play LSU. I would love to facedrag LSU, but in reality, winning the WAC, cracking the top 25, etc. would be far sweeter.

Boise State was our Superbowl. We can do everything we want to do as a program without ever having to deal with LSU.

Disagree here. LSU has too much money (facilities) and prestige (SEC) for a player to choose Tech over the results of a game.

This is the last year of the series regardless.

And if Tech did win, I would bet my savings that they would never play again.

After we walked in to Tuscaloosa and beat Bama twice in a row, they stopped calling us, and probably never will again.
