Can’t speak for 2003 and earlier, but all the marketing materials from 04 show 100% composite, fiberglass stringers. But I’ve always heard the rolled gunnel boats have wood decks almost without exception
What y’all think of the CS sea chaser 175? Seeing a lot of them around with the Yamaha 90s but worried about the 17’7” length.

I have fished a 19 ft and now a 23 ft bay boat around grand isle. I know you're not looking for over 20 ft but night and day difference in the ride. May not be as big a deal if you can pick your days to fish (I cannot due to work) so sometimes I have to go on not ideal days to scratch that itch. 19ft will work but bays and lakes around grand isle are just getting bigger. Go glass too if you can find one in your budget. My 19 was a cobia bay boat which handled chop pretty well. They aren't super common but same parent company as maverick and pathfinder just more economical. Good luck!

Bro in law had a 21' sea pro which did pretty good around there, but was just big enough to be a pain launching without 2 adults.

I've seen a few 17' cobias around and they look like nice boats - wish there were more 19s around.
Thanks yall.

Definitely steering the glass way now. I've always been in aluminums for mostly freshwater and hunting, and boy do I HATE scrubbing white fiberglass.

I've never been out the surf or in the bay in an aluminum though and sounds like its a recipe for back pain.
Sea chasers are definitely on the list. thanks!

Help with boat choice - Grand Isle

Posted by LaTechDawgs on 11/4/20 at 11:50 am
OB,

Been looking at boats for about 6-8 months now trying to find something good to knock around with my son. Used, under 10k, and under 20'.

Would be chasing specks around grand isle around 60%, Lafitte 20%, and the rest just sac-a-lait and bass fishing on the bayou. Not going to baby it, but want something I can leave under a cover on the island during the summer.

I don't want to get beat to death every time we go out, but with little kids we're not going out on rough days anyway.

2 hypothetical boats: a early 2000s Kenner 18/19 or a early 2000s welded center console 1860 (g3/seaark/express).

What would you pick? Any other choices?
As I understand it, MS does not require trailer titles. They can be legally registered in MS without title, unless they were titled in another state before.

I could be wrong though!
Hey OB, I'm about to buy a used boat and trailer in MS to be registered in LA.

I've done this with a truck, but never a boat/trailer.

The trailer was bought in MS, has never been titled, but is registered and current in MS.

Boat is registered in MS, no title.

I know I'm going to need:

1. Separate, notarized bills of sale for the hull and for the trailer.
2. Drivers license of the seller.
3. Seller told me he'll provide a copy of his bill of sale from when he bought everything.

Is this going to be a problem to get registered with DMV and LDWF? Also, how will I know if I have to submit the tax paperwork that the state says "May" be required?

thanks ob
ULM's aviation program was shut down about 4 or 5 years ago. Northwestern's was shut down at the same time. At the time, NSU had 3 planes, ULM had none and rented one or two out of a local school.

NSU's planes and ULM's King Air simulator are now owned by Tech, but Tech recently closed the deal on a replacement fleet (12-15 I believe)

A lot better than your shitty bowl win. Oh wait, you don't have one.

I think we can live with that.

I know. But seriously, we're doing fine.

You stay classy, ULL.

Sorry, but I have it from a good source that we will look for a non-shitty coach.

Thanks anyway.

You may think we're crying in our beer. But most astute Tech fans saw this coming, either this year or next.

At least our head coach moved on to a better job. He left us in much better condition than when he found us, and Tech will be just fine. The only negative about Dooley leaving is the timing: 2 weeks before signing day.

I disagree. The biggest advantage of beating LSU would be to keep some of those North Louisiana (non-LSU grads) up North on Saturdays. Then the program could really take off.

I understand what your saying, and winning would be huge for the program. But, it could be easily dismissed as a one-time fluke, and may not contribute as well to long term success.

Having a long-term, sustained, winning program would be far more significant and worthwhile.

Imagine if Tech had experienced the exact same success as Boise State. In addition to all the money and good stuff, people in LA would demand a Tech-LSU matchup. Same goes for ULL/ULM/Tulane.

If it doesn't happen this year then the series should be ended.

This is the last year of the series regardless.

And if Tech did win, I would bet my savings that they would never play again.

After we walked in to Tuscaloosa and beat Bama twice in a row, they stopped calling us, and probably never will again.

If LSU loses, then Tech gets a chance to steal in state recruits. The game also doesn't help LSU's BCS standings. Hopefully a whipping this year will end this petty obsession Tech fans have had with LSU.

In all honesty, most of us don't really care to play LSU. I would love to facedrag LSU, but in reality, winning the WAC, cracking the top 25, etc. would be far sweeter.

Boise State was our Superbowl. We can do everything we want to do as a program without ever having to deal with LSU.

It would be nice for LSU to finally end the series with Tech for good with another blowout win though.

It's been 105 Years since we've won.

I'd say Tech is due. :)

Agreed.

The defense is not as bad as some of you think. They give up a lot of yards but not a lot of points. DC Spangler employs a bend-don't-break kind of style it seems. The CBs seem to give a 10 yard cushion on every play until the red zone, and I've never seen them jam receivers at the line.

Rush defense is relatively stout. Navy broke us with the outside option, Auburn had the speed to get around the corner. Up the middle we're solid. There will be some frustrated tiger fans if Miles tries to run up the gut every down. However, if LSU passes even remotely well, we will be picked apart quickly.

Offensively, we're out of playmakers, except for TE D. Morris and Porter. They're all injured in some way.

Tech will fight hard to the bitter end, and there's a slim chance we could steal a win with enough LSU screwups, but this one should be a win for LSU, sadly.
