I would rather a team play to win rather than play not to lose.

With about 2:40 left in the game, the Panthers used their last time out. The Saints had the ball on a 3rd and 8. Billick said that the Saints should run so that they could run the clock down to the 2 minute warning.

I disagreed. I wanted either a safe screen or a bubble screen over the middle. I would have told Brees to not worry about taking a sack either.

Well, we threw it to the tight end and it was incomplete.

So, we had to punt with 2:30-something on the clock.

We downed the ball on the 2. BUT, it was clear that Roby came out of the endzone. Unfortunately for Carolina, they were out of time outs so they couldn't challenge the play.

Had we run the clock down to the two minute warning before punting, then that play would have happened inside of 2 minutes. As such, there would have been an automatic review and it's likely that the play would have been overturned. Carolina would have gotten the ball on the 20 and probably wouldn't have called a running play. They would have had to go about 45-50 yards to set up a game tying field goal. Instead, they run a running play to get some room to negotiate, fumble the ball and we score a TD.

Playing to win KARMA!

wrong on this, yes he went into the end zone, came back in with both feet in field of play then touched the ball. even billick admitted tis was correct

and i think it was Malcom Jenkins

Whomever it was went into the endzone, came out and got both feet back in the field of play so he was 100% legal to down the ball

Yeah, and Peterson had both feet in bounds yesterday and we saw what happened. Do you really want to leave karma in the hands of a replay official.

Oh, and I don't know the rule on re-establishing two feet in the field of play. I think that was close, but I don't know if that's good enough regardless.

Billick is a pussy and a moron. He is the pussy who kicked a game-tying FG at Miami during the Dolphins 1-15 season instead of going for the winning TD from 4th and half a foot.

You tell me - do you like your odds better scoring on 4th and half a foot against an 0-11 football team, or going to 50/50 overtime on the road?

This is why Billick is not an NFL coach anymore. Arguably the worst Super Bowl winning coach in NFL history (Mike Ditka gives him a run for his money). Was completely buoyed by an insane defense.

And that's the wrong part of your post, as said, he was established back inside.

If that would have been overturned on review, it would have been a worse case of replay than Peterson's interception, because there was no question on this.

That's a huge and ridiculous generalization/leap to make based on one decision.

Billick's in-game decisions were horrendous.

He had no grasp of the importance of possession and he had no grasp of "new football" (opponent's 33-39 yard line is 4 down territory), etc.

First, I'm not certain he "reestablished" himself back in the field of play.

Second, I've never heard that as being a part of the rule. Like going out of bounds, I've always thought that you can't be the first person to touch them ball once you go into the endzone.

Can you show us the rule that allows you to do this? And, please don't cite the announcing crew as authority.

Don't know about reestablishment but he was clearly out of the endzone when he touched it.

Ditka is better than him. Did you see how quick he got the last Coors Light? All Billick could do was cry about it.
