I went to the game Saturday night and the only thing that I was absolutely disgusted about what the sportsmanship of the Alabama fans, especially the student section.
On the multiple occasions that LSU had a player injured, the Alabama fans, led by the student section, began cheering "ROLL TIDE" and "ALA-BAMA" completely disrespecting the fact that there was a young man being tended to who had been injured while playing the game. At one point, after Charles Scott had been injured - which possibly ended his career at LSU - the Alabama student section turned up to us sitting above them in the upper deck and started cheering loudly, shouting epithets and displaying vulgar hand signals. The complete disregard for the well-being of LSU players put a really bad taste in my mouth towards Alabama fans.
I am proud to say that we in Tiger Stadium have the class to support injured players on BOTH sides of the field: we will cheer our support for our injured players, and watch intently, AND SILENTLY as opposing players are tended to, clapping for them as they are taken off the field to show our support.
It shows a complete lack of sportsmanship what those Alabama fans and students did. They need to understand that these are still young men playing a game and their well-being has priority over pride for a football team.
Show some respect.

for all the shite the high and mighty bama fans give our fanbase you would think they never do anything wrong. i've said before most of their younger fans don't know what it's like to win consistently unless your talking gymnastics.

God I hate bama fans. I met two fans this entire weekend that I didnt want to dick slap.

All of the LSU fans that I met were great. One guy cooked for the entire parking lot. He was a professional cook.

I agree, the cheering thing while injuries are being tended to is classless. 2007, we were in UK and the whole stadium is doing "C-A-T-S Cats Cats Cats!" (led by cheerleaders who had a field view) while our players (and theirs too) were being tended to at length. It's just crude.
That being said, for the most part the FANS in Tiger Stadium are good about not doing stupid crap while someone is down-- but at the Auburn game this year, the sound guys showed they had zero couth by playing some crappy "pump up" song on the loudspeakers. I hate that crap anyway, but at that point? FAIL and GTFO.

they're not used to winning lately and now that they are they're not sure how to handle it.

Scoop - was he from New Iberia?

I was in that stadium last night, too. Southern manners, in fact NO MANNERS existed. I have never, NEVER, in my life been treated as rudely as we were by not just Alabama fans, but ALL personnel working the stadium. It was simply unbelievable. This is the first time that has happened to me in Tuscaloosa, and I have been to many a LSU v. Bama game there. Something has changed. They all need a lesson on the concept of sportsmanship.

People just get bored when there is nothing going on when someone is hurt. Not intentionally trying to be disrespectful, and I'm pretty sure it's happened at LSU sometime.

It's the fact that they make NO EFFORT to show respect to the injured player on the field. Even a LITTLE respect would mean that they could at least SHUT THE HELL UP.

I don't feel sorry for Auburn. Same with Florida. Florida and Auburn players should fear for their lives when they come to Baton Rouge.
As for Bama fans, I had a great time watching the game in 2008 with some Bammers.

They weren't bored. I talked to alot of bama fan walking back from the stadium and many said they meant to cheer when Lsu players were down, there were a few of the fans who thought it was classless

Scoop, are you sure you're a Bama guy? You tend to behave with such class and tact. Can you please clone yourself or at least teach some etiquette classes?

That's what I love about Tiger Stadium. As much as they say it's the worst place to play as an opposing team, our fans have game-smarts and show sportsmanship.

They would slit their own mothers' throats to win a ballgame. Started w/ Bear Bryant cheating in recruiting, evident in screwing UAB's search for a coach (they wouldn't let them hire Jimbo Fisher), their ridiculous claim to "12 national championships" which if you look at includes after the fact and random polls nobody ever heard of, and now this latest blatant display of homerism by the replay official. Every fanbase has idiots, though. The LSU fanbase has some clowns.

I think a good majority of the Bama fans live vicariously through the Tide. Even more so than other SEC fans who tend to do the same thing. The highs are higher and the lows lower depending on how Bama is playing. Just a theory. And the sense of entitlement due to past success and tradition does not help matters. Add to that the fact that I'm sure they see LSU and Florida as the programs who have taken their rightful place on the throne for the last 10-15 years and the vitriol is that much more for these two fanbases. They feel they have finally vanquished one demon (LSU) and think it is just a matter of time until the Great Sabani has vanquished the other (Florida). Now multiply that hatred by 100 and you will know how they feel about Auburn.

were they booing when T-Bob went down in the 4th?
Posted on 11/8/09 at 3:17 pm to You will Artichokes
Yeah but Bama fans claim it is because the crowd thought he was faking it to stall like Hester claimed he did in 2007 against Florida. It had nothing to do with bad sportsmanship according to them.

These are Bama fans. Bama and West Virginia fans are pretty much interchangable. Except the WV fans have a little more class.

Funny how threads like this only get started after losses.
