Chavis is doing a great job, but with the defense saving us so far this season.

I'd say yes in terms of the alternative being an inferior coordinator who gives us inferior performances. I think we easily lose to MSU and UGA in that situation; potentially UW.

Chavis is coaching Mallory & Paveto's players. They deserve alot of credit for his success.

I think it's better to say, Les hiring Chavis will keep him around longer.

Les brought in Pellini and Crowton (must produce better or he's gone) and got rid of his mistake with Malaveto and the entire defensive staff last year. Les saved himself, and made the hard decisions to bring in a master coordinator ---- he picked the right guy, sold the right and got the Chief to come to LSU when both Les and the Chief had many options.

No. Les was never in jeopardy of losing his job before the contract runs out.

Coach Miles HIRED Chavis how can "Chavis' comin in save..." the man who HIRED him? This isn't a situation where a GM brings in someone w/out the HC making the decision. Coach Miles normally fixes any & all coordinator troubles that pop up. The Co-DC thing last year was a HUGE mistake that was taken care of &, seemingly, solved by him sending out letters of recommendation for his previous Co-DC's & going out & landing one of the best DC's in the SEC & nation.

I think Chavis and Cooper have positively impacted LSU's defense and 2009 football season.

I simply LSU develops an identity on offense. LSU has the skill personnel to playh several styles. I hope the O-staff works out a scheme that works best with the O-linemen.

Les is the CEO and HE made the hire. So, I'd say he saved himself by making the right hire. He obviously made a mistake with the co-coordinators and he wasn't too stubborn not to correct the problem.

But Chavis was still an excellent hire.

He had to make a change because Joe Alleva and some TAF big wigs paid him a little visit in his office. Miles had his hand forced and didn't have a choice in the matter. I doubt he'd have gotten rid of both Mallory and Peveto on his own.

You know this so clearly because you were there in the room/eavesdropping/Miles told you at the Bar later that night/Joe alleva is your uncle?

If you can't provide links to backup your story then STFU with you random musings and let it rattle in your skull.

Oh yeah, of course they did. Let me guess they also recently paid him a visit and ordered him to take the handcuffs off Crowtin.
