Maybe it was just me, but was anyone else about to lose it when Payton had the field goal team out there with the ball inside the one? I'm usually not one to criticize coaching decisions too much, especially after a win, but I don't know how you can even consider going for a field goal when you're that close, your offense is struggling that much, and you have a chance to get some momentum going into halftime. I'm not sure the outcome is the same if they don't get the TD right there. Thank goodness the Dolphins called that timeout and Drew talked him into going for it.

Anyway, just curious about other people's thoughts. Great win. Extremely proud of this Saints team.

well im a huge believer in the qb sneak and feel anyone should be able to convert less than a yard

Maybe that's the reason why

I can understand why he was debating going for the field-goal. We needed something on the board before half time. And remember....the giants stopped us on 4th and goal last week....(but I sure am glad he decided to go for the t.d.) WHO DAT

I would've been pissed if we would have gone for the FG

I haven't had a chance to actually watch the game yet but damn if you do/ damn if you don't. Saints needed points for sure though So I don't think a FG would have been a huge disappointment.

i think it was also a time thing b/c the clock was going to start running when they set the ball until miami took that timeout. If Brees didn't like what he saw, there would be no way to do anything about it.

Points are points, and they were hard to come by in the first half yesterday, so you couldnt get too mad at the fact we just wanted to be down by 18 instead of 21. I wanted to go for the TD, even though Colstons should have counted, and Miami pretty much gave us that TD by calling the timeout.

Colstons shouldve counted because he caught the ball, made a football move, and before his knee went to the ground he fumbled the ball and recovered it in the endzone.

Maybe we were gonna go for the fake, or just put the fg unit in to try and throw them offsides. Regardless, I'm glad we went for the TD

we put the fg unit in to kick the xpat

but then we found out that they were going to overturn the call... and we didn't have time to put our offense back in because the clock would start immediately

Sparano's timeout stopped the clock so we could go for it.

I think putting the field goal unit out there was perfect. It was the perfect way to ensure points. Forcing the timeout was something I believe Payton had an idea would happen.
