Any other examples of a coach who in 4+ years has 1 NC, 1 Conf. title, 2 Conf. championship games, 47-11 record and yet if you asked 100 people on talk radio or message boards if he should be fired, it would probably be 50/50?

Coker is the only other guy I can really think of that fits the bill, but I have no idea if the Miami fans disliked him during his entire tenure, or just at the end when they started to suck.

Will be better to answer this at the end of the year. If they repeat last year's 5-1 start and 7-5 finish, then only half of your statement will be correct.

Coach Miles followed Saban. Anytime a coach follows a successful coach this is what happens. It's just like the wife who loses her first husband, she keeps comparing the next one to the old one.

I like the guy. BUT He needs to do some things that I think would help. BUT I don't get paid $4 MILL to make those choices.

This is faulty premise. I dont know of anyone who personally dislikes Miles. He is a likable dude. That is not the issue.

Hell I know ALOT of likeable fellas that are just average at their jobs.

Smoke Laval is up on that list. Especially 02 - May of 05. After that he deserved the hate he got.

I like Miles as LSU's coach. He is a good man that has the best interest of his player's well-being first. Sure he is quirky as heck and like all coaches, some fans think they know more than he does. Maybe that is why this post was started. We sure do have a lot of 'know-it-all' fans nowadays, especially with all the success of this decade.

According to an ESPN insider article which I can't link here there is a LOT of dissent in Michigan right now, with the Miles backers still simmering in the background.

You act like the Rant is the only fan outlet that gets spoiled over their coach. You should have heard the New York radio shows bashing Torre WHILE HE WAS WINNING 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS. Get over yourselves.

Last year, the defense was a huge liability. Miles brought in Chavis, Haley, and Cooper and after one offseason of preparation and a few games, we look extremely good in that facet of the game.

This year, the offense is a huge liability. Based on what he did with the defensive staff, I have no reason to think that we won't see the same improvement in our offense next year if it doesn't pick up through the next 6-7 games.
