Good grief. I really can't stand all the doom and gloom that is being spewn about on this board. How in the world can you guys possibly find any enjoyment in watching the Tigers when all you do is wait for any slip up, large or small, and then devour it and go online and tell everyone how horrible this team - YOUR TEAM - is? How can that be fun for you?
You spend all game looking for any measure for which we fall short, then spend the next week (or two weeks) extrapolating that error into the worst possible catastrophe scenario. If this is your idea of enjoyment and support, I really want nothing to do with that.
Let me say this. Les Miles is not an idiot.
Again: Les Miles is not an idiot.
You do not get to be a head coach at a school like LSU without learning several things about football and people along the way. He can clearly see where this team is falling short and will do everything possible to bring them ready to play and WIN their next game.

We knew Saban was going to leave eventually. He openly flirted with the NFL for three years running. Surely our administration was prepared when he finally bolted.
And I am quite certain that the LSU of 2005 is much different than the LSU of 1991.
Why do you root for the Tigers if all you can do is complain about how not-perfect they are?

Hey Drizz,
Your thread about process and results was well thought out and has a lot of truth to it. But here is one thing we do not know yet:
At what point does it all become exhausting to those other than the process-driven leader? If the team, fans, etc. are not allowed a moment of joy following a good result despite a lacking process and only the perfection of the process allows joy, when does it become too much for the collective to bear? In short terms, we don't know what the long-term effects of Saban's leadership will be on an organization/team/collective fan base. Could such "drivenness" alienate? We don't know.

Let's see. I started LSU in 1989 and graduated in 1994. I personally witnessed LSU football with 40,000 people in the stands at kickoff. People just didn't give a shite and you couldn't give tickets away.
The acceptance of mediocrity may suit your concerns, but not me.

To basically answer your other post, many of us take great joy in LSU's success, whether it's on the football field or other endeavors. LSU will still be LSU to me regardless if we reinstate Hallman as coach. It doesn't mean I should be happy about it though.
Saban has never stayed at any job more than 5 years, so I don't know anything about what would happen long term.
I do know that ignoring the last 19 games of LSU football isn't the right thing to do. Smoke Laval was in a similar position as Miles in baseball and some people simply enjoyed the early success without concern about the actual state of the program. Luckily he was replaced by a great coach.

The last 4 weeks this place has been unbearable. I don't spend much time here for fear of negative vibe contamination.
I would have liked to see the OL block better and the DL get more pressure on the QB.
It is what it is... To fire the coaches and rebuild with a 5-1 record is crazy....

Because I choose to believe the best until proven otherwise does not mean that I have resigned to accept mediocrity.
One can look at the results so far and say that we have proven ourselves better than everyone we've faced, save Florida. The trams we face for the rest of the year have their own set of problems as well. We could improve (as we had on both sides of the ball leading up to the Florida game) and win the rest. We really could.
But if you state something likethat here, you're labelled a Idiot kook aid drinker.
I, too, was at LSU from the fall of 1990 to spring of 1995. Dark days. I guess even that shared experience can shape opionions differently.

So I am going to go through life thinking LSU IS GOING TO WIN EVERY GAME they play????

Tiger Phil, its just many have a fear of the Miami syndrome. It would help if the offense tried to make adjustments, but it appears nothing has been done.

And only an idiot would advocate this. Unfortunately, you have the two polarized groups, one that sees nothing wrong and the other that wants to overhaul now, that everything gets blurred.
Simply put, 5-1 is 5-1 and the potential and opportunity is there for success. But the disturbing trend doesn't seem to support the realization of that potential.
