Ashley Roberta passed. RIP
Friends w/ Ekandarian - who was also supposed to be w/ them but "did not get the message in time"
Since it was a single car wreck that happened after 3 am, and Eskandarian said that Roberta was going to "meet friends that evening," I bet that alcohol was involved. No reports about BAC though, at least not yet.
Still have not identified third person, who was also taken to hospital. Davies surgery is said to last 5 plus hours

Rohan, where did you get all of this information? I'm impressed.
I've mostly been relying on a couple of Grant Wahl tweets, plus the ESPN and local articles.

Damn, hoping Charlie can recover from this. Hope he wasn't driving drunk too.

Keep in mind that comments on articles aren't exactly the most reliable, but I figured I would post this.
From the comment section of this Washington Post article. LINK

"I know everyone is concerned about speculating, and the info is out about the friend of Alecko, so let me add that from people who are friends with the woman, there was definitely alcohol involved and Davies was not driving. This whole thing is horrible and really just sucked the air out of me today."

This is sad stuff, I'm not worried about him playing soccer right now. Just hoping he can get through this and still be able to walk.
Let's go Charlie

man, frick this alarmist headline:
"Charlie Davies’ career in jeopardy after car crash"
LINK
while it may be true, there isn't enough evidence right now to qualify any statement on his health

They took down the comments about possibly career threatening injuries.
Not that means a whole lot, but I was in a situation where I wasn't officially listed as being in stable condition for longer than Davies, and within 4-5 months, I would have been in good enough physical condition to play a competitive sport (if I had natural talent).
I think the fact that isn't listed as life-threatening and already stable at this point is a great sign.

Some good news in these updates.
Charlie Davies, a starter for the U.S. national soccer team, underwent several hours of surgery for non-life threatening injuries suffered in a fatal auto accident early Tuesday on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, the U.S. Soccer Federation said.
Details of the surgery were not made available, but a USSF spokesman said the injuries were "possibly" career-threatening. No other players were in the vehicle, the USSF said.
[UPDATE] The USSF clarified the statement about Davies's future, saying it is unclear at the moment how the injuries will impact his career.
The one-car accident occurred around 3:15 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the parkway near the Memorial Bridge. A park police spokesman told reporters that the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck a metal railing. A 22-year-old woman died at the scene. It is unclear whether Davies was the driver or one of two passengers.

The whole front of the car is gone. I assume the chick was driving and CD was in the back.

Nah, the front isn't as badly damaged as the back. I think the car was literally split in two. From the reports and the two pics, it sounds like Davies was the front side passenger, the chick was in the back, and the unnamed guy was driving.
ETA: Here is the front of the car.

We'll always have that beautiful goal that he and Landon teamed up on v's Brazil to remember him by even if he doesn't play for the Yanks again.
