doesnt it give the coaches a chance to see how the d lines up before a play is called? what if the first call was bad for whatever formation the d was in and then we have to rely on JJ to make the correct audible?

Only if you're not comfortable with the playbook, i.e. don't know the plays.

If you're comfortable with the playbook and you know the plays, what difference does it make if it's called in the a huddle or at the line of scrimmage?

I can see why it would be an advantage to call the play after you see how the defense is set. IOW, I don't see a problem with it.

About the same as the supposed chance of rain in Tiger Stadium.

Les could abandon the crap but he won't b/c I think he thinks it looks cool or b/c other teams do it. It looks stupid to me, confuses the players who apparantly aren't smart enough to remember the plays. WTF do they do in practice? This look at me sissy crap is a major step backward imo.

the meerkat offense is the reason you see so many runs and options to the short side

LSU rushes up to the line

formation and play is signaled in while everybody does the meerkat

defense sets up in their base look and usually sets up strong side on the wide side of the field

JJ leans over and tells the guards and center what the play is and what DIRECTION to run it (short side)

hilarity ensues as a 5'6 guy with world class 100m speed tries to beat defenders to the corner before he is run out of bounds

the HS team that I do the radio broadcasts for runs the meerkat and i hate it. I understand why they do it, they are playing a HS sophomore QB and the OC stands on the sidelines and gives the QB a comfort level. But I don't understand why LSU is doing so much of it still.

They didn't use it so much against Auburn. I even saw a couple of "old school huddles". I'm very impressed w/ the adjustments Coach Miles & Co. made. This is the team I expected to see.

I'm not a big fan of it either but if it confuses the offense don't you think the players would be saying something and/or Crowton would've scrapped it?
