Crowton runs a version of the spread offense. When he gets a new job, his first year has been great.

I want LSU fans to know why Gary Crowton is going to cause you pain when he stays more than one year.

Nice first contribution. That's very interesting. I hadn't seen that before.

That link is right on....But, I think LSU will suffer more because of Les Miles.

Interesting article. There's a pattern there that could be repeating itself.
Will Miles encourage him to look elsewhere, and then hire a new OC? If so, who would be a good hire?

I posted about Crowton's coaching history a few weeks back, but when he is responsible for a QBs development, his offenses have been horrible in comparison to his others.
He has never started a QB that he has coached from recruitment and had a potent offense. They've generally had some success (see last year), but the continued to get worse (this year).
Compounding things is it seems that Coach Studs must be one of the most useless coaches on the team. His lines have underperformed since going back to the Florida loss last year, and have continued to get worse (Note Scott's dropping production as the season went on last year).
In the end, Crowton is plain and simple, a HORRIBLE QB coach.

As an Oregon fan I can say the biggest problem that I had with Crowton was his inability to design plays to get to the playmakers on the team. He had a set group of plays he liked to call, and he would call them no matter what. He couldn’t seem to recognize a players strength, and adjust his play calling to match.
Sound familiar

You’re right Lance. LSU looked great last night. I mentioned they would do well this year. It would be nice to see them up against USC though. Now about halfway through next season you will see LSU start losing games, if history repeats itself.

Wow, this is ridiculously accurate. It scares me to think about what level of offensive productivity (or lack thereof) is in front of us this season. If things remain the same, Miles will have absolutely no choice but to ax Crowton in December - it's beyond unacceptable at this point.

Here is my previous post from a few weeks back on Crowton's history with QBs and his offense shitting the bed in years 2 and beyond at most places:
In reality, I think Crowton is a great OC. His playcalling can be amazing and so creative that its almost impossible to defend. See VT and OSU in 2007. I think, however, that his weakness is he is mediocre to bad as a QB coach. Everywhere he's had great success, it has been with QBs that were there a year or more before he arrived. This means they got QB coaching prior to him there.
Rattay was a Sophomore at least and had some QB coaching before Crowton. He left after 1998.
In the NFL with the Bears, he had several veteran QBs.
At BYU,returned a key starter in QB Doman and had Luke Staley. Once they left, team went downhill and losing seasons.
At Oregon, took over with a senior QB that was great in Kellen Clemens (an NFL QB this year), and then struggled the next year when Dixon started at QB fighting with Leaf.
Came to LSU and took over a 5th year SR QB in Matt Flynn and 3rd year So QB in RP. The team did amazing and although Flynn played consistently, he didn't really develop as the year went on.
Now, my point here is that when he has experienced QBs (before he gets to a team), Crowton's offenses are amazing. When he's needed to play young QBs or QBs he has been the developer for, the team has struggled and the QBs played poorly.
In the end, we should've hired a QB coach instead of a TE coach last off-season.

Nice man, thanks.
I think I'll be the first to say it:
Get Crowton the frick out of here please before he does more damage.

I want to throw up. It's like LSU has been infected with a disease.
This guy is dead on about Crowton.
And guess what, no way Miles ever gives up Croton 'till the team gets a losing record.
I'm sick, just flat out sick.
Those Bears' games where he threw the WR bubble screen 20 times a game for no yardage or loss of yards.
Yikes.............
