yes, but that's not complimentary of you so much as a description of how terrible typical rant posters are. Hell, I even like Russian more than rant posters.

So true. Even are jerks are better than their jerks.

Just like SAT scores are a very good predictor of college outcomes, regardless of how much people don't like to believe that either.
I don't know of anyone who disputes this. But are SAT scores a very good predictor of post-college success (which amounts to draft position in this analogy).

Because if so, why would someone waste their money at an Ivy League school rather than attend a state school for free? Because the Ivy League school gives better training, right? Otherwise you'd expect the kid who goes 1500SAT -> LSU to have the same level of success as the kid who goes 1500SAT -> Penn. Which is almost certainly not true.

This is almost an impossible question. By definition you're only picked in the early rounds if you're a "physical freak." Not even Urban MEyer or Pete Carroll can change that rule

Early rounds? Who's just talking early rounds? Any young man who makes it to the NFL is a huge credit to a college coach and his staff...We have many. "Non-physcial freaks"? So now it's the total credit to genetics that these young men have arrived? Your bias is glaring. You feel that way about Carroll's kids? And Stoops? And Tressels? And Saban's? and Myers? Or is it just Miles that you have these special philosophies for?

how about "not a physical freak coming out of HS". Just trying to rule out the Chad Joneses and Patrick Peterson's of the world.

Not to mention, this downplays the importance of getting players into the NFL at all. Whether a player is taken in the 1st round or the 7th, it is quite an accomplishment.

yes.

I'm just saying that if you're going to say that Miles is "excellent" at player development, then you should be able to point to at least a handful of players who were overlooked, who were marginal as freshmen, but then were "developed" into draft-worthy players by the time they graduated. I can't think of any. And so far, nobody else can either.

that makes no sense...a loss to LSU will leave very little margin for error for them...most likely, they wouldn't be able to lose another game for the rest of the regular season...to say the game is almost totally irrelevant is ludicrous.

Not only that, but if LSU is as terrible and terribly coach as he believes we are, wouldn't a loss to us be that more embarrassing and hard to overcome? Wouldn't a 1-loss Texas or USC have to be considered over Florida who lost to a bad LSU team and their buffoon of a coach, Les Miles?

Brandon LaFell
Tyson Jackson
Ciron Black

To say that he's "excellent" is probably overstating. I exaggerated my point to Jersey, who considered Miles a failure in all aspects of coaching besides recruiting. But I do think it's apparently that he is above average at the very least.

And to be fair, LSU generally does not accept very many "marginal" players.

who were marginal as freshmen,
Are you serious? Most freshman are "marginal." Very few are impact players as freshmen. Case in point, that #1 or #2 recruiting class LSU signed in February has how many freshmen playing this season? 5 or 6 out of twenty-something signed? That's all I can think of. Wait two years and see if the others are developed to a much higher level of player.

You're off base on this one, Colonel. LSU (Miles) has done a very good job of developing its recruits.

esides, going undefeated is probably important to some folks in Florida.

Probably, but I doubt Urban Meyer cares that much about it himself.

That's absurd. I can almost guarantee that was a HUGE part of his motivation during the off season--1st undefeated national champs in Florida history. If you don't think that matters to him, Tebow, and the rest of their team, you're retarded.

We're talking about the current situation in which Tebow suffered a terrible concussion and the entire country is focused on whether or not the "right decision" to play him or not is being made. I can guarantee that Meyer has the capacity to assess the present situation without being encumbered by off-season emotions. And I can further guarantee you that he would very very happily take a 1-loss national title if it meant doing right by/being seen as doing right by Tebow.

How many losses do you think Meyer would be willing to trade in return for permanent brain damage to Tebow?

I'd like to say 12, but the real answer is probably 1.5.
