Mauer becomes a free agent end of 2010, I belive. The Yankees will pay him a ton to replace Posada. How much will Mauer get each year?

FYI, Based on the ESPN commercial, every time Posada bats, fans in NY yell Hip Hip, Jorge
and if you need to explain it, it ain't working

He won't leave Minnesota, he's a hometown boy.

The Yanks won't necessarily go after Mauer. The Yanks' top minor league prospect is a catcher.

19 year old, Jesus Montero

But they'll need to pay up ('m sure even with a hometown discount it will be a ton). texeira rejected Baltimore and he's a Serverna Park boy. Thats why they boo him so much.

Now get Jason Marquis back to New York on the Mets (from Staten island)

He's gonna stay in Minn. He's my favorite non red position player.

During last night's game I said Mauer might be the only visiting team's star not to get booed. He has so much respect in new York.

I was listening to some baseball dude on the radio yesterday, and he said that Mauer needs to think about moving very soon. Said he's already caught more games than anyone over 6'4" in MLB history and it's taking a toll on is body. Besides that, though, his bat needs to be in the lineup 155+ games a year. Too valuable to take days off, which he'll have to as a catcher obviously, and even more the older he gets.

Supposedly Montero sucks defensively and will ikely be a 1B or DH in the bigs.

Posada wasn't the most polished catcher at 19 either. Not saying you're wrong, but he definitely has some time to improve his catching skills.

He could catch until that dude is ready, then DH and be the back-up catcher.

New Stadium in Minny. No way they let the home town boy get away. They will, however, have to think about using him and Morneau as a 1B/DH combo down the road.

what makes you think he'll leave the twins?

I know that Mauer is a "Hometown Kid," but the Twins never pay their stars and always let them walk. It's hard to imagine they'll have the money to pay a player of his caliber.

He's old now. Not saying he was ever a top-flight defensive catcher, but he was never too bad.

according to all reports, mauer is pretty simplistic guy. he may take a little less money to be able to stay in minnesota.

I really doubt Mauer leaves the Twins. Sure, they've let a lot of young stars go, but he's different than most of those guys. He's a hometown guy, was the first overall pick, a probable HOFer... he is the Twins.
