Sounds fair to me. Can't honestly dispute that. I'm just curious as to if those two gentlemen feel LSU is such a fraud and overrated, why did they both vote the Tigers in the top 10 ? Craig James voted LSU #18.
I don't recall a season in memory where preseason polls and polls in September have come under such fire. If those two fellows feel LSU is a house of cards, why didn't they rank LSU lower and try to make the polls a little more legit with shaking things up and moving teams around more to justify the polls instead of just giving more credence to the people who complain that its all popularity.

The problem with polls right now, is that there aren't some clear-cut dominant teams right now. The top 3 seem somewhat secure, but after that, it's a mix of teams that are definitely "beatable" by upcoming opponents on the schedule. Rank them high, and they get beat and fall. So, I think that's the reason for the "poll anxiety" right now with the talking heads.

I agree. If I were a voter, I'd put LSU somewhere around 19-22.

Thats actually really fair, and still probally a bit high. Not sure if we are a Top 5 or even Top 10 at this moment in the season. I would think that some where between a 12-16 ranking would be more on par. Just MHO.

You may be correct. My point is why didn't these two vote LSU accordingly instead of going off on how "overrated" we are ? 7th ain't that far behind 4th.

I agree, These two talking heads Herbie and Fowler just need something to talk about and why not vote LSU up there then trash them and talk about how "overrated" they are for Gameday.

I'm guessing the win over UW was validated with the UW win over USC, so voters kept us rated fairly high. It's hard to justify USC over LSU at this point with that fact.

LSU is just benefiting from upsets, they will probably be put in their righful place over the next few weeks, which is proly around 17-20

Just some thoughts.
It's week 4.
We play Florida.
We play Bama.

i agree with that, but let me guess Oklahoma and USC were above LSU?

True. Though I'd say more like 15.

Spot on.

The problem is that you can't just rank LSU 16th and be done with it, you have to also rank 13 teams above LSU (I'm ignoring UF, UT, and UA for now).
Do you really think that the 3 non-BCS teams (TCU, Houston, and Boise St.), USC with a loss to a team that LSU beat, VT with a loss and another win on a Hail Mary, OU with a loss to BYU, Cincinnati, Ohio State with its USC loss, Iowa, Oklahoma State with its loss to UH, Penn State with its loss to Iowa, Oregon, or Miami with its beatdown last week are all better than LSU?

We may not be in the top 25 after the next two games.

+1
You still have to put teams in front of LSU. And there just aren't that many that I would put in front of them. You can't put a one loss team in front of them and the AP just isn't going to put Boise St. up there.

I vote in the Examiner.com top 25 poll, and it's incredibly difficult to find any team worthy of the top 10 after the top three.
I put LSU No. 5 even though the Tigers' statistics are awful pretty much across the board. The one exception is turnover margin, where LSU excels, and as we know from last year, turnovers are probably the most significant stat in determining games.
We'll find out this Saturday whether LSU is overrated.
LSU No. 5 on my ballot
