Has anyone else noticed how much beef prices on USDA Prime has gone down? I just got down telling someone that I would not go back to Ruths or Flemings until they adjust their prices.
I have seen prices anywhere from 11.99-13.99 a pound

Because the high end steakhouses are not ordering as much prime because of the economy and lack of business. They are selling much more to local grocers and adjusting prices accordingly. It's a good thing.

What grocers in the area sell prime beef? I haven't been able to find any.

But where are you finding Prime in stores in BR ?

I have picked up a few steaks on occasion at Tramonte's, Other than that I don't know where to get Prime beef.

And someone explain why Ground Beef is so high now. I haven't bought ground meat in forever.

Whole Foods has it as does Fresh Market and Calandros normally.

I've seen it in Publix in Florida and Central Market in San Antonio.

I usually get it at Calandro's on Gov't. Theyve had plenty lately.

I've never seen prime at Fresh Market myself...

But for the purpose of being useful I'll add Maxwell's market to the list of places in BR where you can get prime beef

I have never seen Prime at Fresh market (not saying they dont carry it but it must be the exception and not the norm) and rarely see choice, Whole Paycheck (whole foods) did sell Prime intially then they stopped, I have not been in a while so they may be selling it again, Maxwells Market has it sometimes but they don't always have it in the case and you have to ask for it. Tramontes used to sell Prime but the last time I went in he said he stopped, While I was in there I asked the young lady what kind of Strip steaks they had (wanting to know the grade) and she responded "red ones"

Thats funny shite

Thats why its important to be able to tell whether or not what you are buying is prime.
