about Jefferson. For just a fifth start, he does a pretty good job of this.

"Jefferson is also not telegraphing his passes and not always going to the original primary receiver, which was a problem Lee had."

"He's hit me when I was the check-down receiver," R.J. Jackson said. "I was the second and sometimes third option, and he just happened to find me. That just goes to show you the maturity of Jordan — for him to go through his reads one through three. 'OK, that's not there. Let me go through the check downs.' That speaks tons on him because a lot of people don't do that, and he's just a sophomore."

He also throws the ball away when nothing is there instead of forcing it. This is the biggest and most important difference from last year.

I do agree his has been really good at protecting the ball. However, he probably would have two more INT if the ULL DB's could catch. If he can just start throwing the intermediate and a couple good long balls a game, holy cow this offense would be unstoppable. These dink and dunk passes are crowding the line.

Take the ball control capablilities from Jefferson and the deep ball throw capability from Lee; good combo.

Jefferson will get better, lets just hope it happens this year so a good season could be special.

We still have major problems on the OL. That is concern number one right now.

Agree, JJ throwing some away does not bother me at all.

Sounds like he has a cool head and that's good.

Looks to me like he is mostly locking onto a single receiver, and should have had at least a couple picked. It also appears to me that we have abandoned the middle of the field completely, wasting pass opportunities to our RB's and Dickson, and creating the mismatches that our defense has not been able to handle, even when shorty was here.

Un-fricking-blievable. A fricking player tells you he was actually the 2nd and 3rd read and yet we STILL have some interweb douche that has this bullshite to say? Some of you people are sad, sad little men.

I love it. Receiver three tells us he's getting passes as the 3rd check and we say, "Looks to me like". Who cares what it looks to us. That isn't what it is.

Have you seen Miami's qb yet? He's only had 5 starts and he doesn't have as much talent around him as JJ.

Has anyone seen RJJ catch a pass over the middle?

Good point about miami's qb.

The only good thing about JJ so far is he has not thrown int's and he has shown some good timely athleticism on some runs.

Very very conservative though, almost like he is saying whatever happened to Lee last year is NOT going to happen to me.

Every QB locks onto a WR at some point. Hes not doing as bad as Lee was. Lee would do it almost every play.

JJ primarily either dumps it off or runs if receiver number one is covered, but I believe he is improving. Think we will find out this saturday.

We have abandoned the middle of the field, but I think that’s by design so far. Lee had a crisis of confidence from throwing picks, primarily over the middle. Keeping the routes short and to the sidelines means that JJ is less likely to throw a pick. Right now, the gameplan has been about minimizing risk instead of maximizing game.

Eventually, that has to change, but you can certainly do that against weaker teams. Why expose JJ to risk if you don’t have to? Especially if he’s refining skills like checking through his reads and making good decisions in the pocket.

Also, if the oline held up better, he would have a little more time/confidence to stay in the pocket and check other WRs.

guess that means all qb's should develop this fast or they suck

Couple of things to add. OL problems can be largely attributed to the teams we have faced so far bringing extra men in the box. Yes, I know that there have been some miscommunication and footwork problems but those will resolve as the season progresses. The only way we will get teams to back off of crowding the box is to complete some intermediate/long passes. Once this happens, it will cause 2 different things to then happen for us. 1) the OL will be better able to open running lanes and 2) Pass blocking will get much better and JJ will be able to visualize the middle of the field and find those receivers (kind of hard to visualize the middle of the field when you are rolling out one way or another to avoid pressure).
