I think you may be assigning too much weight to style and not enough to substance.

Apart from the 1st half against UW our D has played well. I think our staff has treated/is treating the first 3-4 games as quasi-pre-season. We're in it for the long haul.

We may lose a game but no one looks invincible.

if we dont improve 8-4 is what we are looking at. We better hope we are just being "vanilla" and just not up for these early games.

Why you're wrong:

Given that:

1. we believe LSU is a talented team by both SEC and National FBS standards

2. we know factually that LSU has the most fickle fans on earth and will doubt every single minute of every single game, every single year, up until we win the NC
----

The biggest 2 problems coming into this season were QB and adjusting to John Chavis.

- Between JJ and Lee we are 49/75 with 1 INT. on the season
- Lee is 100% on the season!! (granted 2/2 but baby steps)
- JJ's season QB Efficiency is 138.90. As of 9/20 he is 46th in the nation, but more importantly 1 spot ahead of Jake Locker, whom negatigers generally respect.
(LINK )

- Our Defensive improvement isn't quite as quantifiable, but anybody who is actually paying attention to the game can notice that we are 1)playing with intensity, 2) not blowing coverages, and 3) not relying on the same 1 or 2 players to carry us every game.

I personally think this season may end up looking more like when we had Gay, Hookfin, and Webster in the secondary. Everyone is getting in on the action.

Also, when you throw out random guesses as to season record, you might want to put which 4 we lose to and why? Support the argument...

My Take and its long

Miss State - Win based on usual factors...too much depth; more talent, but the Bulldogs finally have a coach who I think can match up with the middle of the pack SEC teams. State's not where they want to be yet and that offense where Dan the Man wants to go with Dixon as their star player = identity crisis. You're the only school who can lose to Auburn 3-2 on an error in the 9th and fire a black coach a year after he finally achieves something worth a shite - a win over UCF in the Liberty Bowl. How ironic. Dan the Man won't like playing LSU without Tebow. Dan, meanwhile, will be fighting Derek Dooley to see who can get out of their crummy town and get a real job in a city with more than 60,000 within two more seasons.
Georgia - This game should shape up a lot like the Auburn game of last year. I expect it to be back and forth with turnovers, blown coverages, but some spectacular atheticism on both sides. Cox isn't the typical UGA qb we are used to seeing in Athens and no Moreno is really making them look like the UGA of the 1999-2001 seasons. We should pull away late and win with our best overall performance yet. 5-0 and a ranking of about 5th. Who knew? Is it really going to be 4 SEC teams and Texas in the top 5 by then? LSU escapes Athens with a slim victory and heads back to chaos in Baton Rouge, where Tim Tebow's social security card number is somehow printed in the Advocate under the Joe Macaluso hunting column. Still, people manage somehow to actually lay eyes on it. Tebow better have LifeLock.

Florida - Our most hyped crowd and team...a little bit of nighttime Bama of last year. A win will take more than our best effort. We're going to need 4-5 turovers from them; blitzes to be executed every time; corners to never allow their wideouts to cacth anything over 15 yards. We need to hold Demps to less than 50 yards rushing. Okay, we need Tebow to struggle and to quit because of the noise, the hits from Jones, Coleman, and Alem, and the frustration of his team just not playing like a #1 ought to. Hopefully, the stolen SS #, new cell phone, and pictures of his "virginity" will crush his spirit. All of these things will happen and LSU is looking at 6-0 and possibly a 2-3 ranking the following day. As the verse of REM's "Losing my Religion" goes: "That was just a dream..." I've watched both teams. Tennessee gave its best defensive effort in years and still couldn't dent the Tebow express. It will be a fun night in Death Valley (should sound like it anyway), but the end result is 99.2 percent a loss. This will be a good game to to to the Pasttime, get liquored up, and cheat in your girlfirend with the bartender...or just go find these hookers that Buddy Songy seems to know.

For the so called fan that started this thread, they will not graduate from college, that is if they are even in college,..they will never get a decent job,..they will be poor for the first twenty years of their adult life....see how easy it is to be so negative,..if you live thinking this way, that is the result you will get...

How in the hell can you tell? Nothing has been conclusive so far as to how this team performs other than the fact that there was a little bit of improvement week to week and the competition to start the season was just a tad bit stronger than usual. I just don't see how people can look at LSU right now and automatically assume that we're gonna lose to all the SEC teams that are ranked. I've seen worse LSU teams go into Tuscaloosa and win. Remember 1993? I've seen worse LSU teams beat Auburn that was better then than now (1988, 1995). I've seen worse LSU teams beat Arkansas (1999).

Cut it with this crap. To try to make an assumption about how LSU is going to play in the SEC is completely ridiculous based on what you've seen so far. I wonder if you're even old enough to have watched any of the games I mentioned above in the first place.

There are a lot of shallow, totally void of content posts in this thread.

Most people rather than rebutting the OP with logical arguments, called him names, and made vile predictions for his future, just because they didn't like what he wrote.

THAT is what is wrong with this board, if anything. That there are a large number of people whose response to a differing opinion is "your an idiot", "you suck at life", or "you will never graduate college" (this one takes the cake).

That type of argumentative strategy, called an ad-hominem (Latin for against the man) attack shows the lack of logic, and a person who refuses to consider that their view might not be absolutely correct and feels threatened when confronted with that possibility.

This is a favorite tactic of TV pundits, whom I suppose a lot of you watch regularly, again based the way many folks respond to differing opinions here.

Those of you who attacked the OP, how smart do you feel now?

I really don't give a frick what you think about me so flame away and prove me right.

All of the attacking, no-content posts makes the Rant look, well, really low class and uneducated -- incapable of reasoned debate or discussion. Like cavemen bashing each other over the head with sticks and grunting. It reflects poorly on the institution and this board. Whether you like it or not.

Please Ranters, why not attempt to elevate your games and answer a fricking post without calling a the poster names or insulting his lineage?

It's really not that hard.
