Isn't there a post around here somewhere on posting rules?
Something about not starting threads with every little thought that pops in your head? also making a post that makes sense?

I'm sure we will with big time recruits like Dexter Blackmon plugging the holes...

You are right about the rules but in his case-
Not just starting dumb threads - that is stupidity - but he compounds it by starting and flaming in stupid threads.
See in case of stupid flamers ( as opposed to guys who have subtlety) - they don't read your replies/don't process it. So it doesn't matter how logical or cogent your argument is,it won't change their due course.

Why is this a stupid post?
If anything is stupid, it's the way we've been recruiting the past few years.
Passing on Sentimore = HUGE loss.
Passing on CM = HUGE loss (seriously, imagine the backfield next year with MF, RM, and CM, along with the freshman backs).
Byrd = Another HUGE loss. Imagine LaRon, Toliver, and Randle as the starting 3 next year.
Losing these 3 were huge. Period. And if we start to make mistakes like this year in and year out, it will bring us down.

Thank you for posting this. After watching Byrd catch that TD pass i knew there would be some idiot that would undoubtedly post sometihng about this. Just because we don't get EVERYONE from the freaking state of louisiana doesn't mean that our coaches aren't doing a good job of evaluating. Just maybe, MAYBE, that recruit didn't want to go to LSU just like recruits that we get from out of state might not have wanted to go to the local school. And sometimes players actually get much better after high school than they were in high school. But of course, none of this means anything to you because all you see is that person was from louisiana so of course our coaches missed out.

So, I'm guessing other teams don't make mistakes with the guys they are recruiting each year?

I'm sure a lot do. But do you want to put us on the same level as "other" teams?
Is LSU going to remain dominant, or will continue to make "slip ups" like this on the recruiting front and just dissolve into one of those "other" teams?

Cal, our coaches fricked this one up. LaRon was all LSU but LSU never offered, instead we offered Tim Molten. Everyone who had seen them play said LaRon was better.
It was pretty well known we were letting a blue chip get away.
Just another frick up to add to Miles' growing list.

Just wait until 2011.
People will start to realize what is happening when half of the LA players for 2011 with committable offers from LSU go out of state.
Although most here will sweep it aside and neglect to look at what is really happening.

Chill out. 2011 class NSD is a long ways away.

Why is this a stupid post?
1. You mentioned players who have not been proven yet - except for players like Manning / Adrian Peterson or even Julio there are very few players who can be evaluated as a pass or fail till after the junior year.
Hence - wrong assumptions
2. You mention 3 players out of the last 4+ years of recruiting
That is an extremely small subset and hence illogical not to mention irrational
3. It is not like we have neglected those 3 and picked up scrubs - we brought in Shepard, Randle, Loston, Montgomery just to name a few - ALL OF WHOM overshadow the ones you mentioned as per their evaluations and rankings.
Incomplete analysis of the situation and refusal to accept others valid reasonings on this
4. Mentioning that this leads to a downhill pattern.
Inspite of Dexter (whom we dont know fully about) we are ranked higher than about 115 teams
Again - this is not the RANT This board has been relatively clean and kept aside for legitimate discussion about recruits and not for popping every thought in your head and hence resulting in posts that are not helpful.

Chicken really needs to add a chicken little the sky is falling .gif to the board. Just so I could use it in threads like this one.

Nope, Byrd was begging for a LSU offer. The hat screwed up.

This thread is so retarded.

Do you want ALL the reasons or just a few?

Here's part of the stupidity. We've averaged a top 5 class the past few years. You're retarded

Passing on Sentimore = HUGE loss.
You know this how? Have you seen him play a lot in college? We picked up Chris Davenport, Josh Downs, and a 4 star Juco Defensive tackle. All were higher on our board than Sentimore due to concerns about him qualifying. I think we did ok.
quote:
Passing on CM = HUGE loss (seriously, imagine the backfield next year with MF, RM, and CM, along with the freshman backs).
As much as I'd like to have gotten CM, do you think any RBs would be committing to us this year if they had that in front of them on the depth chart? Something tells me we'll be just fine with the guys we have, and I can't imagine a scenario where having CM on the team would mean the dfifference between a win and a loss. So I'm gonna go ahead and say NOT a huge loss.

Yeah imagine that, starting 3 WRs who all play the same WR position. No slot guys, no possession receivers, just big, tall, big play threats. We are definitely hurting at WR now and for the foreseeable future since we didn't land Byrd. (Note, that was sarcasm)

Thanks internet message board football expert, but I think we'll be just fine as long as we keep recruiting like we have been.

2 of the 3 haven't logged minute 1 in a college game thus far, and they are "huge losses". What a joke.
Some of you need to bring your crystal balls and eyes for talent to ESPN. You're missing your calling as big time analysts.

You mean like when we line up Lafell, Randle and Toliver on the same play. These are the types of WR's the hat likes and Molten was. It isn't written in stone anywhere that you need to play small quick slot guys.
Laron Byrd is a player that we could use.

He would be behind Lafell and Toliver this year, and when he was on the field, people would be asking "Where is Randle?"
