1. Jefferson has a long way to go

2. Williams should start over Scott. Not because he's better but because our interior run blocking isn't as dominant as it would need to be to justify someone of Scott's running style to be the starter. Also until Jefferson comes around in the passing game we need to utilize his ability to run as much as possible to give the running game some balance. Williams is clearly our best option back.

3. So much for Shep's speed not transferring to college. I wouldn't be shocked if he's starting next year or competing for a lot more PT.

4. Defense played better but still has some room for improvement

5. Our punter is bad enough to probably cost us 1 game this year if not more

Jefferson hasn't impressed me to the point where I think he'll be better at this time next year than Shep is

And Shep seems to be the superior athlete

He punted 4 times for a 40 yard average...He averaged 27.5 in the first game...I will assume the latter was first game jitters...

Jefferson seems like the in between guy.

Lee is the best passer, by far. Shep seems to be the best runner.

I don't envy the coaches having to choose one of these all very talented players.

I would like to see either Lee or Jeff starting w/ the other getting 2 series per half. Would also like to see Sheppard used on individual downs throughout the game. I think that would be exciting to watch from a fan's perspective. However, Les has never asked for my advice.

his first 3 punts were horrible...he had 1 really awesome punt

so to summarize, his first 7 collegiate punts were shitty with a long of 39 yards....and 1 good one

I doubt that's who he would be replacing.

I don't really care who starts. Just use each one when appropriate to the situation and skills where each can contribute to what we need. I do think that we are likely to see KW more based on his game performance.

Scott just doesn't look impressive this year

He's solid but not the playmaker that Williams is

If our run blocking was better I'd have no problem giving the nod to Scott as a guy who can consistently pound it.

The way our line is playing we need a more versatile back like Williams starting. Anyone who disagrees with this is just one of those homer fans that allows sides with the head coach no matter what.

We'll be fine. I know there is a lot of room for improvement, but so does every college team in the nation. The grass is not greener on the other side. We will be dominant. It is just too early to tell on what teams have the "It" factor. One positive we can take from the two games we have played so far is that JJ may not be overly impressive, however, he does manage the game. RJ Jackson looks really good and Levar Edwards is going to be a beast. Also, we have limited our penalties so far. This is a big plus factor.

It's not like JJ is looking like John Elway right now himself is my point

How much worse can Shep be a year from now?

We've only played 2 games. The coaches have to see how the team is reponding and progressing in real games. I suspect that if the line continues to have problems, the coaches will use KW more. But at this point, give the coaches some leeway to test the players and make alterations in the game plans. It is too early to give up on Scott. As the line gels, hopefully, he will have more success. But without seeing how he is doing with the line play and blocking, the coaches can't make the adjustments needed.

As fans, we do a great job of deciding in hindsight what should have been done. It is very different when drawing up a game plan with out the opportunity to know exactly how things will actually go in a real game, especially in the first couple of games.

Sure. I just think that it's evident that KW needs to be getting 15+ carries a game based on his performance thus far.

And I didn't say to give up on Scott. I just think that you have to give more carries (particularly early on) to the guy with the hot hand.

And that might just start to happen. But we are looking at it in hindsight. He had 10 carries in the Vandy game. But did we know for certain before the game that Scott would be sort of bogged down and KW would shine? Let's see now, if based on what is happening on the field in games we see more of KW or a combination of better line play, more involvement from KW and better play from Scott.
