I am sure this has been covered 100 times, but i guess i missed it. anyone else on here concerned with the fact that JJ cant complete a pass over 15 or so yds...all the "long" plays from scrimage we've had so far have been the receivers making plays after the catch. I don't think we can beat good teams with out a deep down field threat? just wanted to get someone else's opinion...

2 of 5 in the first half on long passes. Not my opinion, just what happened.

Well, I just watched JJ complete two deep balls (one to RJ Jackson, the other to Lafell) on one drive to end the half on the CST replay (and in person last night too), so I'm not quite sure what the frick you're talking about.

This is true for just about any team. I'll leave it to the rantards to discuss if JJ has the capability.

cause it was raining and misting making the ball somewhat slippery in both games which would affect his accuracy.

give him some breathing room. the kid is starting out his first season with a big spot light on him. he overthrew a couple receivers. game timing. but they weren't ugly throws. they weren't under thrown and almost intercepted. he was putting it where only his guy had a play on the ball. give him that throw again and i put money that it's a touchdown.

Jefferson will get plenty of shots deep downfield this weekend.

i am talking about the fact that he keeps overthrowing receivers and would have thrown a pick had it not been negated by a penalty!!! and i was at the game too and I know what i saw. I don't exactly call 2-5 on down field throws "consistent"

He has the arm and will get better.

I'd take his arm over Terelle Pryor's any day of the week.

Rain doesn't affect the ball thrown by the QB in Tiger Stadium.

absolutely!!! I really have faith in the guy and wouldn't want any one else starting at this point. I was just merely stating that I was concerned that he has not been consistent with down field throws in either game...

a penalty of holding that affected the receiver getting to that ball thrown.

Off the top of my head,

Long ball for touchdown to Brandon Lafell against Arkansas

25 or 30 yard touchdown to Richard Dickson against GT

Realy long ball to Lafell that got called back against GT

About a 20 yard pass to Tolliver in the fourth quarter against Washington

About a 10 or 15 yard touchdown pass to Lafell in the 4th against Washington

Perfect pass to RJ Jackson near the end of the second quarter for like 30 yards last night

Another one to Lafell to set up a field goal at the end of the half

Thats in 4 games. Its realy not alot, but everyone is acting like his longest pass ever was like 10 yards. So how about you give it a few more games to judge him on that and stop talking bad about his FIRST start in Tiger Stadium

Dickeson (I think it was him) would have had a chance at the ball or a breakup had he not been held. The hold you mention certainly cut his progress down the field, therefore the over thrown ball.

Also it is better to overthrow than to under throw a reciever when he gets behind a defender for what its worth.

Im guessing you ment 2 games. Why would you not care about last season? He didnt just some how lose all of his ability to throw a long ball over the offseason
