10: the green-colored mud field tiger stadium always ends up as at the end of the year

0: super bowl or world cup quality grass

I saw a picture of the field the other day and it was in great shape. After this game, it will be garbage for the rest of the year.

I really think LSU should consider field turf.

You can blame those conditions on anckle injuries over the course of a year. Like Matt Flyn's against VT

It is pretty much a joke considering how much they spend on facilities.

I'll go with a 8 in the middle tapering to a 4 on the sidelines. A friend of mine posed the question this morning "couldn't they just cover the field till game time?" I've never seen it done but didn't seem completely illogical. Anyone know of any instance in football where that's been done?

Kentucky's used to go dorminant mid-November so they had a brown field for their last few games. It looked turrible.

field looks great from the pics I have seen. In a perfect world everyone would want a grass field. But its my opinion that weekends like this that makes it crucial that they switch to field turf. The field as good as shape as its in now will be garbage for the rest of the season.

Heard from multiple people that it was in great shape. By halftime or earlier, it will be turned to crap and stay that way for the rest of the season. Field turf seems to increase injuries (have not reviewed in actual stats on this), but it sure amps up our speed (UW not withstanding).

Speaking of which, they (UW) has a POS stadium, but a brand new turf surface-how can they afford it selling 40,000 tickets a game, and we can't?

it's time for either sports turf or a professional grounds keeper that knows how to grow grass ... i remember the saints and the NFL bringing field guru george toma in here to get the field straight for the saints games after katrina ... toma laughed at the condition of the grass ... like other posters have said, here we are with the season opener that is going to basically be played on a gumbo platter and the field is going to look like crap all season long ... so much for that supposed state-of-the-art upgrade they made years ago ..

i just don't see how we have such incompetent people handling our field

you'd think by blind luck they'd do well at least 1 year

I have always heard that we have like a whole department or degree program in turf management that would be rendered obsolete if we got field turf. Someone call Jindal and tell him if he is looking for budget cuts in higher education, this would be the perfect place to start.

the excuse has always been with the sports facilities being so close to the river in the old flood plain, they just can't grow good grass .. i call bullshite on that .. there are plenty of other sports venues with grass fields close to rivers that look decent ... the field at the new box looked horrible all season long too .. couldn't even get a good, classic criss cross cut on the grass .. how in the frick can they do it at zephyr field and not here ?
